  the whole cottage needs a thorough clean and furnishings very old and worn .When we arrived Mr Sinclair was just coming out of the cottage saying the TV wasn't working and he would be back. He did return a few minutes later and sat in the room trying to fix the TV. What a start to our holiday trying to unpack with a stranger sat there. The bathroom door wouldn't open properly, old rusty bin, light over mirror not working, heater in bathroom full of dust, old rusty tin of air fresher, shower screen on bath had black mould along the bottom. The kitchen had dirty cutlery trays and all utensils in them were very old. cupboard handle broken, dead beetle between the melamine plates, spider and web in a cup. No icebox in fridge so Mr Sinclair said to use the freezer where the dogs were kept in a separate outhouse which was disgracefully dirty. We were told not to shut the curtain in the hallway as the rail was broken. This meant when we left the bedroom to use the bathroom, we were on view up the lane. The single beds were very hard with child size quilts. furniture old, random old xmas decorations etc in draws which needed cleaning out. The carpets and flooring all needs changing as it is so old. there were dozens of flies every day due to the cottage facing the horse stables. We bought fly killer and were constantly spraying them. My partner honestly thought I was going to say " take me home" but because he had booked it for my Birthday I tried to make the best of it. We left 2 leg rest from our reclining sunchairs in the cottage shed by mistake, and after a call to them the day after our return, the daughter said she would get Mrs Sinclair to ring me. I have a friend in Ayr and though I could collect them when visiting my friend later in the year but I haven't had a call back and that was a week ago. I would have contacted you before now regarding how upsetting and disappointing our holiday accommodation was but I am just recovering from Covid and haven't been up to writing. On a positive note, we loved the areas of Rockcliffe and Kippford and would like to see other areas of Scotland. Baring in mind our bad experience at Tumbling Banks would the company give us some form of compensation for not only how upset we were but also for such poor accommodation as we would use Discover Scotland again but would suggest you think twice about using this accommodation to future clients in its present state.   Jane was a wonderful host; she was there to welcome us even though we were running late.

  The welcome saw us being introduced to our very clean and massive pod for our stay. Jane explained how to use everything and what was required. We absolutely recommend a long stay here. Wish we could have stayed longer than the two days. Smart toilet seat - google Japanese toilet - bed that massages you to sleep; turns itself off. Milk, cream buns and Prosecco in the fridge along with fresh bread and local biscuits from Walkers biscuit factory just down the road. A grand boxed selection of fruit teas and coffee pods for the machine Clean and compact. Really no need to take an oven glove or extras like Sykes recommended as were not required. I did needed to buy sauce at the local shops - 5 minute drive or there about - for our fry up but I bet you even as I type Jane is on the case. It was a home from home experience. Then the amazing swimming pool come hot tub! This was main reason I chose Jane’s retreat but it was so much more than we expected. For folk that need swim training take a holiday here; you can thank me later! The wet room is large and so easy to use before and after the hot tub. Moss of Bourach is about 1/2 mile from Ben Rinnes Distillery and from the public carpark there you can join a path so you can walk up Ben Rinnes. Jane has a booklet includes information regarding the workings of equipment and has taken her time to make sure there is local info and safety regs sorted in her booklet. With the views and sunsets this is a place we will return to, with its wonderful host too. Thank you Jane. Your hard work will we are sure will pay off - oh we even enjoyed our stomp through the bog woods right next door!

  Dirty and tired.

  Stayed at NO. 16. Absolutely disgusting. We tried to stick it out but after a few days we couldn't carry on with it. We contacted Skyee Cottage to be helped but received little support. We had to find another property. We were then told after we left that the carpets and sofa are going to be replaced on the 20th June 2024. Overall... Cons. 1. Decore is tired. 2. Carpets are soiled with heavy stains. 3. Sofa and chairs are rancid. Absolutely disgusting. Made us feel itchy and uncomfortable with the state of the place. 4. Found dirt and food benind sofa. Kitchen draws had crumbs and dirt. 5. Windows were filthy and full of cobwebs. Thick Dirt and dust behind and under beds. 6. Never complained about a holiday before but this was a joke. Had to wash our cloths when we got out. Pros. 1. Mattress was dirty but not stained. Very hard but not a problem. 2. Room sizes were ok as well. 3. The Site was us ok for us . Staff were very friendly. Pool was ok. And we liked the table tennis and ping pong. 4. Parking for 1 car.. 5.Decking area was nice. 6. Kitchen has what you need. (Tiles are gruby tho). Please check the standard of no. 16 Savita Cottage before going. Ensure the upgrades have happened. It's no joke. It's terrible. I don't consider myself to be fussy. But it was awful especially for the price. As it stands we are awaiting some sort of resolution. But to be honest I'm not holding out much hope. As we just keep getting told the owner will be spoken to and then we'll get an update. As of close of business today we have had nothing

  Unfortunately the standard of accommodation is not as described.

  It had not been cleaned on arrival, However, the resort staff were marvellous and cleaned it immediately. As this accommodation is privately owned, it seems there was a lack of communication about whose responsibility it was to clean. The sofa is threadbare with holes in and awful improvised cushions stuffed in making the seats uncomfortable. It is advertised as a standing shower in the main bathroom but there is no hook at height, so in effect only one shower workable. This shower leaked all over the floor. There were not enough of the same sized glasses in the kitchen for 5 of us (4 of each) and glasses were cracked. There was not enough cutlery either (only 4 knives!). It would have been nice to have more plates than just the six as not enough then for any extra when prepping food etc. The prepping knives (paring etc) were all very blunt and unusable, meaning the only sharp knife available to use in prepping was the serrated bread knife! The fridge door was broken. The carpets were filthy and desperately need replacing. It could be made very nice but clearly the owners have not spent any money on it, so for the price we paid, it was inadequate. This is a shame as the resort itself was lovely. If I were to go back, I would rent one of the resort owned cottages as they appeared much nicer.

  We take cottage/log cabin holidays 2 to 3 times a year more often in Scotland.

  We’ve not had a bad holiday yet but we have to say this is a stand out experience. We’ve never had such a great welcome before, being diligently shown around the property by the owner Jane who explained all the amazing equipment including Alexa controlled lights and heating and the huge hot tub/pool. We used it every night even in the rain as it covered within the barn which doesn’t obscure your view outside. Jane provided us with a lovely local lemon drizzle cake, an ice cold bottle of Prosecco and a fresh baked loaf amongst other things in the welcome pack. She even topped us up with coffee machine pods. During our stay we were afforded complete privacy and Jane was always on hand for any advice about the property and local area. We normally travel in a group of four to six family or friends but this was a rare excursion as a couple for which this property and local area was ideal. Would highly recommend for couples and we certainly look forward to visiting again as a couple. Well done Jane and thanks for a fantastic holiday. Karen & John.
