  We were two adults on an October break. We loved the village of Amberley and the cottage is in a great location but is quite small and wouldn't be suitable for four adults (it does say this in the blurb). There is a lovely little garden but, for a winter let where you can't get outside, even for two of us, it turned out to be quite poky. It would be difficult for four people to sit round the table in the kitchen and still be able to get through into the sitting room and there is only really seating for 3 to sit in the sitting room. Even for someone not overweight, it is difficult to get in and out of the shower as the doorway is narrow. There needs to be a strong warning about the stairs as they are very narrow and steep, not suitable for small children or anyone unsteady on their feet. There is lots of cooking equipment but a shortage of breakfast bowls and cups. The main bedroom window won't shut and the bedroom was cold, even in October. Those were the downsides. The upside was the location, the fact that the cottage was immaculately clean and that the owner and caretaker responded immediately and helpfully when contacted. Bearing the above in mind, if you want a break in a beautiful part of the country, this cottage is worth considering.

  Nachdem wir positive Erfahrungen mit dem Leuchtturm in Pencance mit Rural Retreats gemacht hatten (Jahr 2010), sind wir davon ausgegangen, dass dieses Cottage ebenso dem Standard entspricht, den wir von Rural Retreats erwarten. Das war leider überhaupt nicht so, trotz dem doch hohen Preis. Die Sachen, die uns überhaupt nicht gefallen haben: - Alle Sitzgelegenheiten im Living Room waren durchgesessen, müssen alle erneuert werden. Konnte man de-facto nicht benutzen - Junior Bedroom ist viel zu klein - Sowohl unten, wie auch oben im Bad gab es nur MINI Waschbecken, ich weiss nicht, wie man sich dort waschen kann - Die Toilette unten war nicht benutzbar - viel zu eng. Die Toilette oben war benutzbar, aber ebenfalls so eng, dass man sich bei einer Bewegung immer den rechten Ellbogen an der Holzkante auf der rechten Seite gestossen hat Von daher sind wir ziemlich enttäuscht. Ich würde ein solches Cottage aus dem Programm von Rural Retreats entfernen. Das ist nicht gemäss dem Standard, den man von Ihnen erwartet.

  Longmace house is a beautiful property which kept the old features and combined it with modern touches. It is bang in the middle of Arundel so was a great base to explore the town and its surrounding areas. The property was very spacious and well equipped, perfect for a family getaway or even a gathering with friends. We also luckily stayed during a weekend where the farmers market was held and it was a real treat. Although no allocated parking, I wouldn’t worry about it, plenty of car parks and on street parking, there is also free parking on mill road if you get lucky with a space. We had a restful and enjoyable stay, plenty of walks for the dog too. We highly recommend this place and Paul was very informative prior to our arrival which was a bonus.

  We loved our stay at Longmace and had a great time. The cottage was restored to an extremely high level and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location was superb. Communication with the owner was really good and he answered any queries/questions promptly and helpfully. We would definitely return to this amazing place. From our perspective the only downside is that there is no outside space but that is made clear in the particulars and may only cause an issue in the summer. However, the location almost negates that. We also felt that due to the fact that this is a very old building, the structure is such that in two of the bathrooms you need to be a ninja to negotiate the space!
