  On a damp and dismal Novembers night we arrived at the Dunkery View and Keith was there to greet us and show us into the warmth of the Cottage and a Somerset welcome. After a good nights sleep we explored the Cottage and it had everything one would want, but make sure you bring some food if late ar.... On a damp and dismal Novembers night we arrived at the Dunkery View and Keith was there to greet us and show us into the warmth of the Cottage and a Somerset welcome. After a good nights sleep we explored the Cottage and it had everything one would want, but make sure you bring some food if late arriving or visit the local Hotel/Pub which is 3 minutes away. The scenery around Wootton Courtney is magnificent and is well worth exploring. The Village shop is only 10 minutes walk away which is also the Post Office. Dunster a delightful little Village is not far away and Dunster Castle is worth a visit. May I suggest if you want a wonderful meal in Dunster to visit Reeves. It is not expensive, but it is delicious. There is also a great deli in the high street you can stock up and their Pasties are divine as are their cheeses and bread. Dunkery View and the area is well worth a visit with so much to do a week will only scratch the surface. Give it a try and you wont regret it, we didn't.

  We loved the location of the Stable Block as we were able to do a variety of walks from the door - up into Porlock, along the salt marsh to Bossington, up into the woods to Culbone. The sunrise view from the bedroom was glorious and the cottage equipment was excellent. We used the Radio upstairs, th.... The sunrise view from the bedroom was glorious and the cottage equipment was excellent. We used the Radio upstairs, the Bluetooth to listen to our own music downstairs and Netflix and Amazon Prime on the TV. We were kindly given access to next door's laundry room/washing machine. We came without a car - by train and bus from Bristol via Taunton and Minehead. The number 10 (Atwest or Ridleys) goes all the way to Porlock Weir. Do try Porlock Bay Oysters just down the hill - unique and delicious. Sit with a cider at the Bottom Ship of an evening and watch the world go by. Look out for boats with colourful sails going by as you can watch them from the pretty garden. Greencombe Gardens near by are gorgeous. Thank you for providing everything we needed for a wonderful stay.

  Dunkery Vew certainly lived up to our expectations - in fact exceeded them. The owners were on hand to greet us, there were milk, biscuits and fresh flowers awaiting. They were available through the week to provide local expertise if needed. The comfort is excellent, central heating flexible to kee.... Dunkery Vew certainly lived up to our expectations - in fact exceeded them. The owners were on hand to greet us, there were milk, biscuits and fresh flowers awaiting. They were available through the week to provide local expertise if needed. The comfort is excellent, central heating flexible to keep us cosy during a chilly week, and furnishings and equipment of very high quality - the comfiest chairs we had found in a rental cottage. Wifi was excellent, and we were even provided with a desk and swivel chair for the laptop we took with us. The Villagers' shop, a short walk away, was friendly and provided with all the essentials we needed. The surrounding villages were beautiful - a little known secret - and as I was researching ancestors, we were delighted to have access to the village churches. One tip - if you have them, take binoculars, as the views are spectacular, and you may spot deer on the hillside.

  Beautiful location, in the heart of very good walking country and not to far to the coast, Porlock and Minehead are great,plenty to do and see in all areas.We love fly fishing, so went to Exebridge near Dulverton, about 30 - 40 mins.Had lovely time and Property very comfortable, plenty of room, and .... We have stayed in many places some of which my wife has had to clean before settling in, she does have good standards though.Owners are lovely, they live nearby and are always helpful. We will return, hopefully for a little longer.Glad we chose this one. Many thanks.

  The accommodation was immaculate and so very well looked after. We felt like we were the first people to occupy it yet people have been visiting there for about 8 years. Keith and Karen were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The main reason for choosing this property was because of its .... The accommodation was immaculate and so very well looked after. We felt like we were the first people to occupy it yet people have been visiting there for about 8 years. Keith and Karen were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The main reason for choosing this property was because of its close proximity to Dunkery Beacon, the second darkest place in England. My husband is a budding astro photographer. He got some lovely shots. Will definitely be going again, hopefully in the summer.
