What our customers say about their holidays
Stephen - Verified booking
We were really looking forward to our holiday in Tenby and staying somewhere close to the town centre.
We arrived at the White Cottage Annexe after a 9 hour drive. Looking forward to a well earned rest. However, after getting the key and opening the door we were greeted by a strong musty/mould smell. We looked around the property and found the culprit to be an old mouldy mop in a cupboard. As this was the only mop we presume this was used to clean the floors! We put the mop outside and within a few hours the smell got better bet never went completely. As my wife was very upset she felt the only way to feel comfortable would be to clean the property herself. While she was cleaning she also found nail clipping under the toilet seat, black mould in the shower and an old bottle of watered down soap on the small sink. After showing me the nails I noticed the shower rail was coming away from the wall. The bathroom itself felt tired and in need of some attention. After the clean we then went to the shop to get milk and snacks as there was no welcome pack with basics like milk (something common in other properties). The bedroom was clean and the bedding was fine. It was a pity there was no kind of dressing table for toiletries and getting ready. The outside area is totally enclosed and felt too closed in for us. However, this wasn't an issue as we did not use it because it was overgrown, lots of dead leaves on the decking and generally not looked after. In the living room area we would agree with other reviewers that the sofa is low but the owner is right as this is a personal opinion. It was good to use as an arm rest if you sat on the floor. We did struggle with the TV remote. Getting it to turn on and change channels even after swapping the batteries over with another remote (no spares!). The kitchen was fine. All the pots and utensils felt clean enough to use. They may wish to put a tin opener and some scissors in the kitchen though. The property on the whole felt tired grubby in places. Even down to the decking on the approach to the main door on the wobbly side with a couple of raise screws. We felt let down by this property which looked so good in the photos. Maybe we should have said something but we did not want the confrontation and there was too much to fix in the short time we were staying. However, we ended up leaving a day early anyway!

My first thoughts on entering White cottage annexe were lovely, spacious bedroom but rather small, cosy lounge but actually the lounge area was fine.
The cottage is clean & comfortable & the little outside area was also fine & was a bit of a sun trap & I enjoyed reading my book out there on a couple of afternoons. The property is a convenient ten-fifteen minute walk into town. We didnât use the dish washer do canât comment on that. The only negatives I would say is that the bed has a bed end/ foot to it & as both my husband & I are tall we found it quite uncomfortable as it was not possible to lie on your back or stomach as you couldnât stretch your legs out fully which meant that every night we didnât get a very good nights sleep. This wouldnât be a problem however for people who arenât tall. It was also very hot & it seemed like it was a winter quilt that was on the bed. The only other negatives were that it took quite a bit of fiddling with the shower as initially we found it way too hot. There was also no welcome arrival pack which is quite unusual these days or information booklet co covering local facilities, pubs & restaurants etc. On the whole though, it was a lovely cottage & I would definitely recommend it to others.

This property looks modern on the photos but it is let down by the cleanliness.
In particular the bathroom was in need of attention. Both sides of the shower screens were grubby, and bottom of the screens needed the black mould removing. The towels and tea towels were poor quality. No pillow protectors or mattress topper but a plastic mattress cover which was like sleeping on a sheet of plastic. There were only 4 coat hangers and no hairdryer but the property owner when she returned from holiday (on the Monday) loaned me a hairdryer and supplied more hangers. This year we have been 2 other of your properties which have supplied every possible cleaning product, maybe we have been spoilt but at this property we were supplied with antibacterial handwash, surface cleaner and 2 dishwasher tablets! A cloth or sponge to use with surface cleaner would have been useful! There was also a brush but no dust pan. We were left 1 toilet roll! Do you ever inspect these properties ?

You need to follow up on what people comment on and acting upon it I read on the comments section about the bed being uncomfortable but thought it was maybe a bit harsh but having slept on the bed for seven nights I have to agree first impression upon lying on the bed you think not bad but after about 5 minutes you begin to feel the springs digging into you no matter which way to try to move to different position it makes no difference my wife sort of solved it a bit buy putting two large beach towels under the bottom sheet also the pillows need pillow protectors which puzzled me as there was a materesse protector on the bed the decking area is a reasonable size but could do with a jet wash the shower is execelent as is the cottage location if next year the mattresse has been changed for a good quality one we would definitely rebook the cottage the owner,s are a lovely coulple

The villa is very comfortable and in an amazing location. It's great for families and groups of friends. We were disappointed at there being no toilet rolls whatsoever nor handsoap upon arrival. There were no black bags for non recyclable rubbish so hope that it was all taken on the Saturday morning. The football table in the games room was unusable as stops at the end of the rods were missing. We all enjoyed our stay at Ashford Villa. There was enough space, ample seating, 4 ensuites, comfy clean beds, good wifi, sky t.v. etc.. This, along with the location is what makes Ashford Villa a great place to enjoy Tenby and surrounding Pembrokeshire.
