What our customers say about their holidays

Stay was made into a mini break as we had a funeral to attend in the area.
Was good value for what we paid but there are some things which could be easily rectified to make the stay here better. Needs a better clean, cobwebs hanging from second bedroom, lampshade needs a good vacuum, stuff under the single bed (bottle of water) under sofa too was missed items so clearly overlooked (pompom thing which we left near the bin) Tooth flosser down the side of the sofabed - still there for you to dispose of! The towels were supposed to be white but in our opinion needed to be thrown away or used for pet towels. Lots of mark/stains on them all and had to sort through to find the best of a bad lot. Very small too, larger person staying here would have an interesting body dry on such small towels if you are used to a bath sheet for example. Bath plug needs attaching to the chain so that a bath can be taken if desired. Also NO mirror in the bathroom so an interesting wet shave when getting ready for the funeral. In the kitchen we found two chopping boards, one only fit for the bin as disgusting... No bread knife and the knives in the block needed a good sharpen so perhaps a sharpener in the drawer tor people to do this. We normally have a go at cooking a meal or two when we go away but husband didn't even want me to cook him a fried egg sandwich in what was on offer and he's not normally fussy. So some easy things to look at really but definitely cleaned better along with the towels.

Myself, Mom and 2 Children stayed over the October Half Term Week.
Walking into the lodge the only words we had were âwowâ. It was absolutely beautiful and more, the pictures online really donât do it justice. We had the most amazing, relaxing week away, it is located on such a peaceful pitch overlooking the golf course, close to all amenities all within walking distance, swimming, soft play, pubs etc. The lodge itself had everything you could possibly need, the welcome pack was such a lovely touch, Thankyou. Beds were comfy, towels were fluffy, enough toilet roll, kitchen roll, foil, cloths etc to start you off. I absolutely loved cooking in the kitchen. Shower was great and an added bonus of tvs in all the bedrooms. If I was being picky I would ask for more hangers, a couple more hooks around, esp for a dressing gown in the bedrooms would be handy/tea towel in the kitchen, maybe a bigger bin in the kitchen and a small lamp in the twin bedroom as the main light can be a little bright when you want to read at night. The clothes rack was slightly broken which we left a comment in the comments book which Iâm sure has been sorted already. Overall it was a much needed break away and we were so lucky to spend it in such a beautiful lodge, so much so we have just booked to go back February half term. Thankyou and we canât wait to come back soon :)

We stayed in this lodge last year in July and were blown away by how lovely and luxurious it was so we decided to return again this year expecting the same amazing experience.
.....sadly this wasn't to be. On arrival we found the gate latch having been completely snapped off so were unable to secure the gate which with 2 dogs was not a good start. There was a note in the guest book to say it had been reported but no one came to at least try to temporarily fix during our stay. The general cleanliness of the lodge was not great with dust, cobwebs etc. (I was an nhs housekeeping supervisor for many yrs). We looked for something to clean around with but no cleaning products left only washing up liquid. Alot of the furniture was looking and felt quite worn. The corner sofa was not secure and kept separating, the mattress in the main bedroom both sides are visibly sunken, some of the bedding was ripped or had marks on, main bathroom shower screen leaked so water went over the floor. We were all very disappointed as its such a lovely lodge in a great location with lovely views. It just looks and feels like it's sadly not been very well looked after and maintained. If it was brought back up to its previous high standards we would love to return but sadly won't at present due to how we found it this year. We even came home early as we weren't very comfortable.

This flat is not an acceptable place to stay,it is in an area that is quite run down.
Outside of property looks very shabby, inside the main room is dark and uninviting with just a sofa, dining table and a small tv on the wall, there was also a strange smell. In the bathroom the grouting on the tiles over the bath looked disgusting, the coloured bathroom suite needs updating, the toilet had a cheap white plastic toilet seat that didn't fit the toilet. In the kitchen the state of the sink was very unpleasant needs replacing. In the main bedroom the duvet cover and pillowslips did not match which did not give a good impression, the twin beds in the other bedroom had old fashioned duvet covers and pillowslips not like the ones in the pictures on Sykes web site. We only stayed for an hour while we looked on the Internet for a hotel to stay for the night before heading home. Our son, daughter in law and granddaughter were going to join us for two days at the end of the week, they still went for Thursday and Friday, my daughter in law had to bleach the grouting in the bathroom before they could use it,they agreed with us it was not a pleasant place to stay. This is a very overpriced property and not what people expect in this day and age.

A lovely lodge, quite new and on a peaceful site, however.
. the cleanliness was dreadful!! Beds very uncomfortable indeed, too soft and sunken and feeling springs did not offer the luxury stated. We have stayed in better lodges with good quality mattresses compared to this one. Nothing was done about these when we called customer services, not even an offer to come clean all the dirt behind doors, sides of toilets, hairs, dust, dirt, and more. The front door step didn't look cleaned or swept, hand prints on dresser, stains on bed linen and pillow cases, it felt awful especially as this was only just as coming out of covid times. There were dirty pans in drawers, and more.. this place is sadly not one we would return to and needs a deep clean and more TLC to be classes as the luxury it is listed as. No contact from the owners at all.. so expect whatever you get when you arrive. We will certainly not be returning to this particular lodge, far better there to book that is cared for and clean.. and will never book with Sykes again as they don't care if the place you are in is not as stated.
