What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed at Dormouse cottage during the Feb half term.
Here are our comments: Good points: Able to get into the property easily, and actually got an email the day before saying it had already been cleaned so we could arrive whatever time we wanted. Beds all very clean and comfy, we all slept brilliantly Cute, traditional cottage, with many features you would expect (this properly has steep stairs and low beams as you would expect a cottage to have) Bathroom clean with a brand new seal on shower screen, so no leaks when using the shower Fully enclosed rear garden to let our dog out into, this was great Good TV that worked well, and really good wifi even with multiple devices connected Microwave, fridge, cooker and other kitchen appliances all clean and worked fine. Warm and easy to heat to the temperature you want Arrived to a bottle of wine, tea and coffee making things and pre packeted biscuits waiting for us, this was a lovely touch! Not so good points: Other than the basics you would expect some areas of the cottage needed a good clean. I think this isnât helped by all the decorative items around the cottage. I went prepared and wiped round with detox wipes. The sofa wasnât great and was covered in dog hair. We spent about 20 minutes hoovering this. It did have a lot of scatter cushions and blankets on it so we removed these and didnât put them back on then gave it a good hoover. The front door was quite stiff and needed a good pull / push to make sure it was shut properly. Others have commented on the noise from the windows, we didnât really notice this too much and it definitely wasnât an issue for us. Overall we had a great stay. It was comfy, we slept well and could easily sort food etc. The location is also great with plenty of things to do in and around the village. Plus our 7 year old son also really enjoyed it and slept well. Since returning the owner of the cottage contacted us for feedback and was genuinely interested in what we had to say and how he can make improvements. Again, Another great touch! Thanks for a lovely stay, we are booking for a return visit later in the year!

We chose Mimosa cottage for a holiday as I am suffering from a life limiting progressive illness.
This would have been our 5th visit to Mimosa and the cottage is set in a small orchard looking out to sea. It is a lovely quiet and relaxing place to stay and since our last visit the kitchen has been upgraded to a good standard. Apart from the steep drive wave I have always found the cottage to be manageable with reguards to my disability. However some aspects of the cottage are beginning to look rather tired. The 2 bathrooms have not had any upgrade since our 1st visit many years ago. The shower chair is is the same one that has been there since we first visited. This has become rather rusty with parts seized and looking tired. The grabrails in both bathrooms are rusting and unslightly. The same loosè toilet seat with peeling surface is fitted on the toilet in the main wet room. The floor in the wet room floods and water ends up in the bedroom on the tiled floors. Many of the double glazed units in the conservatory area have condensation inside, this has also been the case for many years. The conservatory is the ideal place to make hoist transfers from a wheelchair but it's cluttered with big plants which hamper the space you have. I appreciate it is very difficult to find properties with suitable facilities for the severely disabled but apart from an update to lto the facilities at Mimosa it would be very nice if an investment could be made to help the disabled have a more enjoyable holiday This could possibly include a ceiling track hoist. I have hired hoisting equipment for this holiday but it is very expensive and I would be happy to pay a small charge if the owners invested in some equipment to help. Knowing how few properties there are suitable for disabled people I think it would be a sound investment for the owners to facilitate equipment for the more Severely disabled.

Very disappointing and dirty cottage.
It needs a huge amount of work done to it - painting, new windows etc⦠Generally in need of a thorough deep clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, the house smelled awful when we arrived but realised this is because of the hoover - which stank to high heaven when you used it. The carpet is filthy and stained. Windows looked like they hadnât been cleaned for over 6 months. Some windows are rotten. The towels were stained with yellow marks. Behind the bed was disgusting! Itâs not at all like the photos on Sykes or Dream Cottages website- the sofa is grey and grubby - not cream, the table is too big for the cottage and not white. It is very poorly stocked - the only saving grace was that we ate out every night. There were no cleaning products apart from washing up liquid and multi surface cleaner - so had to use that to clean the bathroom and mop the floor before we left. Donât know why we were provided with dishwasher tablets as thereâs no dishwasher and I certainly wouldnât wash my clothes with dishwasher tablets. Also situated on a very busy, noisy road - donât think that you will enjoy a peaceful breakfast outside as trucks and cats rush past! A very overpriced and underwhelming cottage. We contacted Sykes about a few things and they did offer to get a cleaner in on the Thursday - we said it wasnât worth it but hoped that the cottage would be cleaned properly for the next guests. They also provided us with a clothes airer (as weâd had to drape washing over shower screens, radiators etcâ¦) and a new cafetière on the Thursday. I do feel they need to update their photos and description of the property as it is definitely NOT the way it appears on their site. However, Burton Bradstock is a beautiful village with fabulous walks and places to eat - just donât stay in this cottage!

Lovely cottage in a great position, loads of space.
Our autistic adult son loved it, the view of the sea and the garden and the quiet position. The connected shower room was useful for me to help him when required with personal care. It was a shame we had to leave early on the Tuesday instead of the Friday as he had decided beforehand that he only wanted to go for a long weekend due to ongoing worries about the pandemic, amongst other reasons he couldnât explain (Autistic logic!) as last yearâs cottage holiday had to be cancelled. We did not change the booking as we thought he might change his mind. The only thing was that the double bed was not comfortable for us, and thought a bigger hotel size bed would still fit in that room. We are used to a King size bed and the restless sleeper stopped the partner sleeping too as the bed was so springy and small. Also the sinks in the shower room and bathroom are very small. My sonâs big hands filled it up and he had difficulty using it for washing when not showering. It was great to have the extra space and chairs in the lobby area and choice to spend time away from lounge area, and also the seating in the garden. We had a lovely time and would go again, except my autistic son likes to go to a different cottage every year. I would definitely recommend this people especially with disabled relatives or friends.

Mimosa- This cottage is located in a beautiful quiet setting, yet a short walk to a pebble beach and lovely hotel (The Manor) with a stunning terrace and beer garden.
The gardens of the cottage are vast (be careful if you have a wandering dog) and again beautiful with exceptional views. In terms of condition and facilities this is what letâs the cottage down. It is fully wheelchair adapted ( not just accessible) which is a great point and sizing of bedrooms and conservatory are fine but the open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is very small and restricted. The overall cleanliness was good on arrival except for the windows outside. The kitchen is in a bad need of replacement and really the whole place needs a total refit to bring it up to date and to also, in my opinion, make it value for money. It needs to include basics like a dishwasher in this modern world and new hard and soft furnishings, especially the outside garden furniture needs replacing. The bedroom wardrobes are a curtain across a rail at low level in the corner! Whilst this cottage advertises from £479 price tag, when you pay £1200 for 1 week in July it is not value for money. Would I come again? I would certainly come to the location without doubt and if I was paying around £500 I would feel it acceptable and value for money, but not with a £1200+ price tag.
