What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was attractive and in the quiet rural seaside village of Flamborough which is well placed for the Yorkshire Coast and particularly for bird watching and enjoying Bridlington and Filey.
It was very warm and cosy, it accepted 3 dogs and provided bowls, covers and bedding, and treats! However there were a few glitches. The key code we were given in all communications before the day we arrived was wrong and we could not get in until we'd negotiated contact with the managers. An email correcting the number had been sent that afternoon, but arrived just before we did, having driven for 3 hours, so we didn't see it until later. There was no tea towel or oven glove but we found one in the laundry room. There was nowhere to hang towels or clothes in the shower room (this could be remedied with a couple of cheap 'over the door' hooks and a radiator rack). There was no enclosed garden (we knew this) but the patio area was actually the gravel drive outside all the cottages where cars were coming and going (and on the morning we left, where the biomass delivery lorry was parked from 8am until 10am - the driver apologized for the noise and blocking access but it was difficult to load the car and very noisy for the other people who weren't leaving with that timing.) We only found the actual open garden where dogs can be walked the second day - it is tucked away behind hedges - a sign or two indicating where it is would help. There was no visitor book - these are helpful for things like knowing to switch the router off and on again when the internet fails if other people experience this, and getting to the garden area, as well as other handy bits of information about the area.

We had a great week in The Stable the property was spotlessly clean with lovely good quality white bath sheets instead of the small towels you get in most properties!
! Nice fresh white sheets & comfortable beds very clean throughout. This is the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in (they have thought of everything)the cupboard is stacked with crockery so you can use the dishwasher without running out of anything. Cupboard under the stairs has two airers so great for drying beach gear/wetsuits etc... The grounds are beautiful & well kept lots of space for parking & play area for younger children. The Farmer was very nice & took us to see the cows as three had been born one that morning, We could also see one calf with its mum from where we were sitting at the picnic table outside the Stable that evening . A 10min drive takes you to the closest Beach Duckpool we had a bbq there one evening great little beach & 15/20min drive into Bude our favourite place in Cornwall!!! We will definitely book this property again & would recommend it 100% we didn't want to go home & wished we'd booked two weeks instead of one!! There was a jug of fresh milk in the fridge & some biscuits,Tea,Coffee,Sugar left for us on arrival much appreciated. Best places to eat & dog friendly are The Brendan Arms & The Olive Tree both in Bude. Only thing we could of done with was more Coat hangers for four of us other than that perfect. This property is a great find & we look forward to returning in the future.

This is a characterful cottage in an ideal location for exploring the northern beaches of Cornwall, close to Newquay and Padstow, located in a lovely village with a great beach only a 5 minute drive away.
Nearby airport is not an issue. The cottage is well equipped for any holiday, lovely large open fireplace in lounge, good sized kitchen which is part of an extension, great utility room which would be great for coming back to, after a wet day out, nice use of surfboards to decorate the property along with some nice artwork on the walls, great large dining room table, large wet room downstairs with OK shower (though slow to drain) nice garden space at the front of the property. The house is let down by being tired in places - upstairs bathroom is desperately in need of an update eg. Discoloured toilet seat making you feel uncomfortable and clearly there used to be a shower over bath but is now a hand held shower, red sofa in lounge has clearly seen better days, carpets have a grubby feel, the two fridges both look old eg no door trays in kitchen fridge suggesting they were broken, strange use of wooden boxes in fire place, no welcome guide to tell you what to do with recycling waste or where your nearest GP, vet is etc. Overall this was a good place to explore the beauty of Cornwall in a cottage that grows on you over the week despite it being tired in places and in need of an update. Thanks to our hosts.

We had a lovely stay at Lee Barton in The Stable for the week.
Itâs in an idyllic setting, the surrounding views are breathtaking and itâs a lovely place to rest and enjoy the small things. This was our first holiday as a family of 3 and I will forever hold special memories of our stay. Hosts were lovely and friendly and were very accommodating to all needs. The one thing I would mention is the thickness of the duvet, we were exceptionally hot in the front bedroom (at night it was 25 degrees in there so warmer than outside) and we had a 15 tog duvet. We used the sheet for the first few nights because of how hot it was but when the weather cooled down the sheet was too cool. The hosts gave us blankets which kept us a nice temperature but having a thinner duvet for summertime would be really helpful. The bed was very comfortable other than the heat. Thanks for a truly lovely week. I loved waking to listening to the birds and cows, what a beautiful alarm clock. We hope to be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at stable cottage.
The facilities were good and the location was lovely. The owners were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the small gym. We have no complaints at all - it was lovely and very relaxing. A couple of helpful suggestions: - we think you should invest in a proper shower - the one provided did not work! This would save you money on bath usage. - some more cutlery would be useful - the numbers have worn off the oven so you have to guess how to use it. - there was no working corkscrew but the owners lent us one These are small issues and not complaints, but might be helpful for the future One comment for Sykes Cottages. While on our holiday we kept getting emails telling us that the cost of stable cottage had been cut dramatically for everyone visiting from now on - apart from us, of course, who were paying full price! This was rather disconcerting!
