  This is a lovely cottage, set just a short walk away from the harbour area. The balcony affords fantastic views down & up the valley. A bonus of its position is the peace & quiet, enabling a very peaceful night's sleep in the comfortable double bed. It is well stocked with all of the every day esse.... A bonus of its position is the peace & quiet, enabling a very peaceful night's sleep in the comfortable double bed. It is well stocked with all of the every day essentials you would need. We were also provided with tea, coffee, milk and cake, left for our first 'cuppa'. A nice touch especially as trouble was taken to provide Gluten free products. These were not requested but the requirement must have been picked up during a telephone conversation. An extremely thoughtful touch, that says it all. I would suggest holiday makers take a few more emergency food items than they ordinarily do. We would normally have “eaten out” on most days, but were unlucky to be hit by some extremely rainy evenings. This made it preferable to eat in and our meagre supplies soon ran out. We were unable to find any local convenience shops to replenish our stock….. be aware !!!

  We spent a wonderful week at Lorna Doone Cottage for our honeymoon in July 2021. We received the warmest welcome possible and were made to feel so special! The cottage was absolutely beautiful. It had obviously been recently renovated and very comfortable while retaining all of its charm and charact.... We spent a wonderful week at Lorna Doone Cottage for our honeymoon in July 2021. We received the warmest welcome possible and were made to feel so special! The cottage was absolutely beautiful. It had obviously been recently renovated and very comfortable while retaining all of its charm and character. It was very well furnished and equipped - comfortable beds, excellent showers and a kitchen which had everything we needed. There were incredible views from every window, and particularly the balcony, where we spent several evenings watching the sun set over the harbour. Beverley was so kind and helpful, offering us advice on things to do and see in Lynmouth and the surrounding area. There were plenty of guides and maps in the house to help us plan our days. We would love to visit again in future and will treasure the memories we have of our stay!

  Very rude owner knocked the door asking why there was more than 2 people at the property ,even tho we had left a message saying there would be an additional 2 people.

  Showed him I had called and left a message on my call log for him still to deny that I had called . Insisted on coming in to the property to get extra bedding ( but felt he was there to check who was there ) as he was there around 10 minutes upstairs ) Garden is enclosed but you have to go round the side to access it , doesn’t actually state that on the booking tho , which again isn’t great when you have children and dogs ,but also the fact that many hikers are walking down the side of the house to the public footpath. Not quite sure when it was last dusted as there were cobwebs everywhere. The lovely bench in the pictures , is totally overgrown with brambles so don’t think you’ll be sat out with your choice of beverage on that! We ended up leaving after 2 days as the garden was a big problem for us and the fact that we felt we couldn’t approach the owner after our first encounter with him . Apart from all the negatives, it’s a fabulous location to see Dartmoor , lovely pub down the road and the bridge is a must see.

  We have just had a fabulous week at Honeysuckle Cottage, one of the best cottages we have been to and how lucky we were to be the first couple to stay here.

  Everything was obviously pristine and new but the attention to detail with colour coordination and all the necessary equipment that was provided was excellent. A nice touch was the Devonshire cream tea provided for us on arrival, it lasted us three days and was very much appreciated. We were very comfortable in the cottage and felt very relaxed. The weather was good to us so we were able to sit out on the patio and take advantage of the pretty walled garden and distant views. The reviews for Rose Cottage which is next door all mentioned the narrow approach lane to the property. At first it was a bit daunting but there are a few passing places on the first stretch of the road and on the rest of the road there are potholes and it is quite bumpy but our car is just a small SUV and as long as you drive slowly and limit the number of journeys you make in the day you make to the cottage it was manageable Overall a very good stay and we would definitely recommend and come again

  This property is in a lovely setting with super views.

  It is very well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. Lovely walks to Lyme Regis. Great not to have to use the car. There are a couple of points to consider with this property though. The property suited us as 2 adults, a teenager and a dog. However I can’t really see it working with 6 people as it’s advertised for due to the size of the kitchen/dinning room and seating in the lounge. The garden is secure which is great if you have a dog, However, it should be noted the gates on the driveway need to be shut to achieve this. We don’t have a large car so we were able to manoeuvre our car to be able to shut them. Not sure how easy this would be with a large car and certainly not with 2 cars. Unfortunately we didn’t find the sofas or mattresses particularly comfortable which meant no great night sleep for anyone. Overall the great weather and setting of the property meant we enjoyed our week away but I would be unlikely to return to this property.
