What our customers say about their holidays

1. Tried to book the holiday online with many attempts over two days.
Site locked up on the payment screen. Rang to book which was not straight forward and was surprised that I was dealing with Sykes and not Cornish Cottage Holidays. This could account for my Banks reluctance to pay. 2 The directions to the Cottage were wrong and did not direct us to the Cottage and we had to ring the phone number provided to try and find the cottage. We were surprised to find that we were talking to someone in the North of England who was initially reluctant to help âas she did not know the areaâ After persistence on our part she did manage to direct us. 3 On entering the Cottage we were greeted with a very damp and musty smell. Fortunately, we cleared this by opening all windows, but we could not remove the musty smell from the bathroom all week which made it uncomfortable. 4. The entrance and egress from the road to the cottage caused the car to bottom and damaged the underside. (We are awaiting a report from a garage and this could result in a claim) We spoke to people in the other cottages, and they said their agent had warned them of the hazard and advised them to enter from the other direction which we did with no problem. This all said the Cottage its self was excellent and location was good but obviously more care was needed.

The Smithy is in a lovely location with Bodmin Moor on the doorstep, so no need to get the car out, if you don't want too.
The cottage was very comfortable, clean and warm with a log burner, if you want to use the fire, alternatively the central heating was more than adequate for the inclement weather we had on a couple of days, in the midst of winter. With having two active and inquisitive dogs, it was a relief to have a robust ,fenced in garden that was completely safe. There are some stunning views and sunsets from the conservatory. The amenities in the property were excellent, possibly one of the best holiday lettings we have stayed at. Blisland Village is about a mile away with a community shop and post office that sells good produce plus has a cafe. The church is a must to see and finally the Blisland Inn, does really good food and very friendly. Lastly, the owners of the Smithy live adjacent to the property and are very helpful and friendly. If you want peace, tranquility and a fab holiday stay, would highly recommend the Smithy

Caroline called around on the Saturday to check everything was OK with us.
There was everything in the cottage that we needed for our holiday. It was very clean and tidy and well kept. When we arrived on the Friday, there was milk, scones, jam and cream which was thoroughly enjoyed. It is nice to have fresh flowers in the cottage as well. The Smithy was ideal for us with bringing our golden retriever. It had a small enclosed garden and a conservatory. It was lovely having the dining table in the conservatory. We felt we were in the garden watching the butterflies on the buddhlia and swallows flying around and perching on the cables. There was a nice walk up the lane and onto the Moor by the Jubilee Stone. There were lovely views of the surrounding countryside from the Moor. We had a lovely holiday and visited The Eden Project and Wheal Coates at St. Agnes. Stunning scenery. Thank you Caroline for our lovely stay.

Excellent cottage and a friendly welcome.
The human and dog welcome packs were above and beyond and much appreciated. The cottage was clean, light and airy and had an enclosed garden - perfect for the dog. The facilities were good and location was central to the areas we wanted to explore. The local pub (the Rod and Line) was also friendly and served good food. The only downside was the abundance of flies. There was no obvious source (bad smells for instance) but the presence of fly spray and a electric bug zapper suggests we weren't the first to have this issue. It didn't detract much from our stay though - it just meant we had to keep the bedroom door and window shut as much as possible. Overall - would definitely recommend.

The house was absolutely adorable.
So very clean and in a wonderful village with two super places to eat. Very close to the sea & lovely walks. I love photography so it was ideal for me. If I had to say anything negative, the boiler broke so we had no hot water or heating for one day, but the owner came very quickly and fixed it and the information booklet needs updating, the WiFi code was wrong, there was no cleaning pack & no thermostat for the heating in the kitchen. These were minor issues and we loved the house, had an amazing, relaxing week and would love to visit again.
