What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely relaxing stay at this cottage.
Wonderful views across the highest tors in Dartmoor. Great base for exploring NE and NW Dartmoor. Only 45 minutes to Bude on the coast which is worth a visit. The cottage had a delightful cream tea on arrival and the owners were very helpful and friendly. We had lots of wildllife to enjoy including Mr Mole, Sheep, geese, wild rabbits and a horse in the paddock. The cottage had all we needed for a comfortable stay including a log fire which was cosy. The small criticism was that the Christmas tree had a coating on it to stop the needles falling inside the cottage, and unfortunately this gave off a pungent smell like linseed oil in putty. This did cause breathing issues for me as I have asthma. Plus there were a few cobwebs in the rafters. But these are minor issues as the tree was for Christmas time at the cottage and not there all year round. The memory foam mattress takes getting used to as it can cause overheating during rest but still comfortable. There are occasional noises to accept as the property has public toilets on the outside wall of the property for the use of the campers. But overall the holiday experience was great and relaxing and I have already recommended the cottage to friends. Great base for exploring and great to have an enclosed garden to use in the summer plus great for pet dogs to run around in safely . It was great to have everything on the ground floor and the water is really hot for baths plus large bathroom with good shower and toilet. Great to have heated towel rail too. Nice and clean with nice soaps and plenty of towels. Just need to vacuum up the cob webs from the rafters plus check under the leather cushions on the sofa bed to vacuum a bit of dust, but apart from that it was a great cottage

This was our first family glamping Holiday and although it was only for two nights but it truly was a wonderful experience, especially for the kids.
The hosts, Nigel and Emma in particular, were both wonderful. Since this was our first such Holiday with kids, Nigel was very helpful over the phone to answer our queries prior to our trip and gave all the information that we required. Emma, once we reached was there to greet us and took us to our safari tent and explained what all we needed to do and where everything was. The toilet in the tent we were booked in was broken so we were moved into another safari tent and it was very clean, including the shower and toilet and everything was neatly laid out in the tent. Emma had also left us lovely fresh apple welcome drink and homemade lemon drizzle cake which was just scrumptious! Following morning we were shown around the farm, including milking of the cows and meeting the lovely grand parents who also help out on the farm too. This is a family run farm (three generation old), which is well looked after with all the family members helping out on the farm. In the tents there is no electricity, however, there is provision for hot water for both, shower and sink, via gas cylinder and solar panels. The tents do not have any fridge but a cooler box is provided and ice packs could be borrowed for free from their quaint little pantry where the guests can use the farmâs fridge & freezer to store any personal food items. In the pantry there is facility to charge all your gadgets and phones. On the all it was a great glamping experience and for us since this was our first time, 2 nights and 3 days, was just about good⦠however, the kids wanted to stay for one more day! Thank you so much Emma for hosting us and for the added bonus to give us some home grown lovely beet rootsâ¦

We booked a week's stay at View The Gallery for New Year 2023.
When we arrived, the barn was warm & welcoming along with a homemade cream tea from Gill, which was lovely & much needed plus a beautifully decorated Christmas tree! Unfortunately we picked the worst week in history to stay, as we endured sideways rain for the majority of our holiday but that didn't dampen our stay! The facilities were great, being able to store & cook all of the food we wanted, a huge bathroom with more than enough hot water (& lovely towels too!), Smart TVs (which we had to make use of given the weather on some days!), nice secure garden for our dogs to wander around in & private parking. The town is a short drive away with a great choice of supermarkets & shops. The barn is situated in a rural area so was fantastically peaceful with easy access to Dartmoor! Visit Meldon Reservoir, you will not be disappointed! We had our perfect New Year despite the weather & will definitely be back again! Thank you Gill & Derek for your kind hospitality!

This is a lovely cottage with wonderful views, great facilities and fantastic hosts.
The only thing that didn't quite work for us was the fence as there is a gap at around the 4 foot height. For the vast majority of people with dogs, this wouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately we have a Houdini rescue dog on our hands who was able to climb up and through the gap. It did mean she had to be kept on a long lead all weekend which was a bit of a shame as we were looking forward to her having a run around. But I don't want to criticise the hosts who were amazing and we are well aware that our rescue dogs do need a little more security than most dogs. If the gap in the fence was increased to the top of the fence post, we'd definitely be back. I just wanted to share this incase there is anyone else with a Houdini dog interested in booking the cottage. If your dog is not a climbing escapee artist, then we could not recommend this place enough!
