What our customers say about their holidays

The Shepherds Hut was fabulous!
It's position on the farm is great with private garden area and parking. Its been very nicely converted and was really comfortable and cosy. Having the log burner indoors was perfect but we also appreciated the electric kettle for a quick cuppa! The gas BBQ is great as was the toasty shower. We added breakfast and BBQ packs and the contents were delicious. Our labrador pup loved the Shetland ponies and the sheep right beside us - even when the ponies decided to moonlight laps around their field!! The hut is really well equipped and kitted out - the only suggestions we had was perhaps a hook on the inside of the door for coats and something heavy or a hook to hold the door open coz the boot rack stops the door going all the way back to the original hook. The outdoor light and solar lights around the path were perfect for evening - and the torch was appreciated too - but the dark skies were perfect for watching the stars. We explored the whole area and found lots of great walks, swims and places to eat!

A very last-minute booking and we hit the jackpot!
Comfortable, beautiful view, well maintained and very clean. Set back from the road so incredibly quiet and relaxing. Shop a few steps away, with the basics plus delicious local bread and Gigha ice cream and a great wee cafe behind it. Lovely food at the Tayvallich Inn a couple of minutes' walk away (book in advance). Very responsive owners - I think they have addressed most of the suggestions in the reviews, but for the avoidance of doubt... The bed IS now a UK kingsize bed. There is a hairdryer. There is now a cafetière... and iron, ironing board and drying rack. So in the spirit of trying to make this absolutely perfect, we thought we would rack our brains for what we would love to see for our next visit. All we could come up with was hooks on the back of the bathroom and bedroom doors... and somewhere to put our soap when using the fabulous shower. It is that close to perfect for us. Can't wait to come back!

This property is truly very good.
The owners have clearly spent a lot of money on the refurbishment. The house is clean, well maintained, excellent kitchen and bathroom, the shower for a holiday rental was the best weâve had in all our years of using Sykes. The location is really pleasant overlooking the loch and the town itself , although quiet did have enough facilities to help stock the cupboards or eat out. The main downside we found were the beds were tiny, the rooms were pleasantly large and spacious but the beds were small doubles which was odd considering the money spent here and the ample room for larger. The garden needs a lot of work, could be spectacular considering the view. All in all this home was really very good, the small beds stopped it from being truly excellent. I would recommend a family stay here as the cottage and area are worth it.

Overall cleanliness of property good .
Main area of concern was kitchen. . After toaster stopped working and no replacement for 2days we used grill in oven 1.- rubber seal hanging off with some at top missing . 2. Shelves not clean 3.- baking trays in cupboard rusty . In the pot drawer we had to clean frying pan and pot as there was residue food still on them. Very disappointing. Property had not been checked properly stale coffee in container , while looking for an object dropped on floor a cigarette end was found under a bed . We would still recommend this property as it was lovely ,the view was distracted by building work and tradesmen coming at 8 am not conducive to relaxing . Building work was mentioned but a full scale construction site of a new build property is misleading .

The house was clean, spacious and definitely upto the expectation on the description.
Beds were comfy and clean and the house was warm with the control of the central heating system. The house was a short drive to cinema, local supermarkets and take out or dine in options around. Owner was helpful and arrived on the day of arrival to make sure everything was ok. I would definitely return and recommend this house BUTâ¦. I would recommend trying to book through the owner as Sykes holidays were an absolute disgrace with their customer service. 4 weeks in and still waiting on a refund of a deposit they cancelled when I first booked. Also near impossible trying to get through to speak to an agent was very stressful. BUT ⦠I stress this was NO fault with the owner who was understanding and helped whenever they could.
