  We had a very enjoyable nine days, and thank you for granting us the two day extension.

  It helped with our weekend plans enormously. Although on the whole the house was left clean and tidy, I think it is important that the owner is aware of the following:- On arrival we found an empty bottle of water on the floor under a side table in the living room. There were several strands of long black hair on the floor of the bathroom which meant that the floor had not been cleaned [they have been left so that you can see what we are referring to], and after the second time of using the shower in the en-suite shower room, we realised the waste pipe needed cleaning out as the water only drained away very slowly [more slowly than it rose], and we were concerned that it was going to go over the lip and onto the shower room floor and potentially seep onto the bedroom floor and of course that could have caused a lot of problems. So that is something that needs looking at urgently. For the rest of the week we used the shower in the bath. No doubt it is difficult to obtain good cleaners, but a bit more attention to detail and better supervision of the cleaning that takes place, would go along way.

  Where do we start. A great central location for both the North and the South coasts. The moors… 360 degrees of them right outside the door. And when you add in a stunning little cottage and the most wonderful hosts you get Gwyns! A beautifully finished and spacious cottage. No expense spared on the finish/fixtures and fittings, a brilliant log burner! And a whole new meaning to the word comfy. The sofa you can just melt into and the bed will have you questioning whether or not you need to get out of it. (Plus you can bring your furry friends) Thank you to our amazing hosts Dawn and Gerry for a wonderful Christmas getaway. They gave us milk when we forgot ours and a list of local events happening over the time we were staying. Definitely take the walk across the moors to The Old Inn and grab a pint. Gwyns is now one of our firm favourites and we will be back!

  What a beautifully converted barn Gwyns is. The hosts Dawn and Gerry have thought of absolutely everything. The attention to detail is exceptional. Fully equipped kitchen and furnished to a very high standard. The log burner was so welcoming on return from our days out. Good to have an enclosed courtyard and use of the field to exercise our dog Alfie. Gwyns is located in a beautiful location on Bodmin Moor and no need to get in your car for local walks including the nearby Alex Tor. We would highly recommend Gwyns with Dawn and Gerry being the ideal hosts. A lovely welcome of a Cornish Cream Tea was a bonus on arrival. We will definitely book Gwyns again.

  A lovely cottage in a pretty village next door to East Lambrook Manor Gardens and two minutes walk to the Rose and Crown.

  Nice walks from the cittage and two National Trust properties 10 minutes drive away. I was warmly welcomed by the owner Julian who lives next door. Ham Cottage is nicely decorated, spacious rooms, comfertable beds and got everything you need. Very dog friendly with a part of the large garden to use for the guests and dogs. I will recomend some dog friendly places near by to eat: The Devonshire Arms in Long Sutton, The Farm and Field Café outside South Petherton, The Barrington Boar in Barrington snd the café at East Lambrook Manor Gardens. Nice places to visit: Barrington Court, Ford Abbey, Montacute House and East Lambrook Manor Gardens.

  Gwyns is a beautifully designed and appointed barn conversion to provide comfort, warmth and total relaxation for a holiday in good weather and not-so good weather. Its location on Bodmin Moor affords wonderful walking and views for miles and it is only 1.5 miles from St Breward where The Old Inn serves excellent food and atmosphere and a short distance to Wenford Bridge where you can join the Camel Trail for walking or cycling. Gwyns with all of its furnishings and equipment is like home from home and gave us and our two dogs a wonderful week’s holiday and we would recommend it to anyone.
