What our customers say about their holidays
John - Verified booking
The Asparagus Shed is a perfect place for a couple to spend a week's holiday.
The property is very spacious, clean, tidy and comfortable, with all that you would require, along with milk in the fridge and a nice plumb cake as a welcome gift. Make sure you read the book on the shelf about the village occupants, a very interesting piece of local, social and recent history. I think it was a Wednesday morning â the church opposite, St Andrews, has an open invitation to go in for a chat, biscuits round the table but take your own coffee and pick up some local knowledge. The village is small and quiet but nicely placed for trips out by car. We had a couple of meals out at the Finch Hatton Hotel, a friendly local feeling place with nice food, drink and it is dog friendly. Movie buffs may notice the name, Finch Hatton, the film Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford has links to the local Earldom of Winchilsea and the, now derelict family seat of Haverholme Priory. Out and about. We visited the National Trust properties at Belton House Estate â a spectacular mansion and gardens, it was used as a filming location for the Netflix series Bridgerton, about 17 miles drive. Tattershall Castle â very well preserved / renovated castle with fantastic views, about 12 miles drive. Along with trips to the windmill at Heckington, well worth the climb and enquire about stepping out onto the external walkway - we opted for an 8 mile return walk there but with hindsight I should have driven as there is also a brewery there! At Sleaford there is also Cogglesford Mill, a still working water driven four mill and their flour is for sale. There is an abundance of WW2 RAF history in the area. Additionally, most days, there is something of the current RAF in the air. Woodhall Spa is also a very nice town to visit. Donât be put off by reports of Lincolnshire being flat and featureless, itâs a change from other parts of the UK and quite a pleasant place to drive around and in my mind feels very much like Normandy, as being agricultural with far reaching views, dotted with small villages with large church spires. The Asparagus Shed, Ewerby â a very, very nice place to stay.

Our party of 6 (and a puppy) had a wonderful 3 night stay at Sunset Lodge over the Easter Weekend.
The location of the lodge is perfect, being next to a beautiful lake and nice grassy area for the children to play (football in our case!) We were extremely lucky with the weather so the hot tub was popular. We used the barbecue and caught a few fish too (returned to the water, didn't barbecue!). The lodge itself is very clean, well stocked with DVD's, a couple of board games, bedding and towels and the welcome basket with wine, chocolate eggs, crisps and dog treats immediately made us feel at home and put us in a great mood after our drive from Essex. The response to our request/query was almost immediate and very informative. We didn't manage to get the WiFi going (used our own phone data fine) but in our case, it did us a massive favour making the children want to be more active! You need to purchase the entertainment pass (£35 total for all guests in our lodge) as you are asked to show them for pretty much everything if you want to venture over to the clubhouse/restaurants/shops/arcade/etc. We had a couple of lovely meals there and our children enjoyed the football court and arcade especially. There is only one guarded entry/exit point (unless you want to climb over pretty high gates), so we felt very comfortable leaving our eldest to have a bit of freedom within the boundary (if that's freedom!). Our favourite place was the lodge though. We would definitely love to return one day. Lincolnshire is a beautiful place going by the drives we went on. We highly recommend a trip to Wild Pines (35/40 mins North) if you have any budding climbers in the family/party. It's a high ropes experience which we (ages 7 to 40) loved. It's very well explained and organised and the staff are first class. Again the weather helped. All in all, we had such a great time and I'm sure you will too. Michael and family. Michael and family.

We enjoyed our stay at the recently renovated Stable.
It was comfortable and warm and nice and light throughout. The kitchen appliances were very good and there were 2 good quality TV's too. The seating and bed were nice and comfortable. The bathroom did the job although to use the shower meant removing toilet rolls etc as the whole room gets wet. One of the main reasons for choosing this location was to accomodate our dog with the large garden being a big attraction. However we found that the garden isn't fully secure. The back of the garden is only fenced off from the adjacent field by a plastic mesh fence. This wasn't fitted properly and most of it wasn't at full height and our dog easily got over it and ended up in the field. This could have resulted in him getting onto the main road. After this incident we had to have him on a lead which wasn't what we wanted for him. A more sturdy and higher fence is required to make it secure. Also the gate and metal railings could do with mesh being fitted as any dog smaller than ours could have squeezed through, ours nearly did! If those small things were sorted it is a lovely garden for a dog to be in. The only other small things I would suggest would be wi-fi and a few more basic kitchen items such as oven trays and gloves. We did enjoy our stay and would consider coming again if we felt the garden was safe for our dog. The bottle of wine and can of beer was a nice welcome upon arrival.

What can I say the place was amazingly clean and with such comfortable furnishings.
It is a spacious and comfortable. The setting was so peaceful and lovely. Beautiful architectural lighting to show off the vaulted ceiling and internal pillars ( no expense speared which add to the look and feel of the tasteful renavation . A short walk to a beautifully restaurant, the Finch Hatten, that have some lovely well priced meals. A lovely place We didnât want to leave. The bed was comfortable the very large bathroom with a rainfall shower was amazing. The toiletries were amazing and high quality. The recycling was also incredibly good as we do like to do our bit but not everywhere always you to recycle. All cleaning products were there in case you needed anything. We would highly recommend this property. The off road parking was also fantastic. If I have slight negative it is, as you do not have a dishwasher I would have liked to have a draining board so the beautiful wooden work surface which is incredibly beautiful. It could do with a drinks fridge as the fridge is small. Ok if you are staying for a weekend but if you stay for a week the small fridge is a little small. Also the ironing board could have been full size again a something when you stay longer than a weekend and also a retractable washing line we say this are we are touring and walking around the U.K.
