What our customers say about their holidays

This is a lovely comfortable cottage in a good location.
It is really well equipped and the owner was very helpful. Just a few things that would improve the stay: It was freezing cold when we arrived in the early evening because the heating was set to fixed times. It would be really nice to arrive to a warm cottage and it took a bit of time to establish how the heating worked. Although the information claims the property is dog friendly (which the inside certainly is) the garden is shared between 4 cottages with no divisions. One owner was not dog friendly and dogs donât recognise invisible boundaries. My dog was very good but a more boisterous one might be stressful. The information on your website claims that electricity and fuel are included in the rent. This is not the case and although a small amount was supplied, the owner charged £10 per bag for logs and £3 for kindling. We bought an enormous amount of logs locally as it was very cold so your information is misleading. All in all this is a lovely holiday cottage and my son and I really enjoyed staying there. The owner has made every effort to be helpful and to provide everything needed for a comfortable stay. There are several pubs very close where the food was very good and plentiful.

Pemba Cottage is a very cosy property, situated in the small village of Threshfield.
Only a mile or so away from the quaint village of Grassington. We enjoyed our stay - the cottage was constantly warm and there is a log burner to supplement colder nights. The cottage is very well equipped even for your four legged friends!!!!! The owners had very thoughtfully left us some port wine and some pork pies, made by an established local butcher. Our stay was over New Year. The weather was not kind!! It rained a lot but that did not hamper our stay. Literally across the road, we can recommend The Old Hall. Superb food, a log fire and equally superb ales. Our stay was marred by the fact that we could not get the television to work! No matter what we tried, it just would not produce a picture. We sent the owners text messages seeking help - they were SUPERB!!! It has to be said. The problem was eventually solved by linking my laptop to the television and watching television programmes via my laptop and the internet. The owners, very kindly, left us some port wine and some pork pies, produced by a local butcher. Apart from that blimp, we thoroughly recommend Pemba Cottage - you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!!!!

THE TOILET BLOCKS DUE TO OLD PLUMBING - AN ISSUE KNOWN TO OWNER WHO HAS SIGN OVER TOILET WARNING NOT TO USE TOO MUCH TOILET ROLL.
We arrived 15.15 on the Friday, our friends joined us 13.10 on Saturday. Saturday afternoon rising water upon flushing occurred, by the Sunday morning the toilet blocked and we were forced to go out to find public toilets. By 15.00 the toilet had emptied but filled again after use and flushing and remained full even after plunging, forcing us to have to eat out at the pub opposite to have access to a toilet. Called the owner who revealed this was a frequent issue and told us to drop in a dishwasher tablet, leave then flush with the shower head. More calls to owner who just fobbed us off basically leaving us with no alternative but to vacate on the Sunday evening as 4 adults couldn't stay in a cottage without sanitary arrangements. When called Sykes and provided photographs, owner accused us of vomiting in toilet and blocking, which was totally untrue. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND OWNER DIDN'T EVEN OFFER TO CALL A PLUMBER, BECAUSE IT HAPPENS SO OFTEN. LOOK UNDER THE SINK FOR THE SIZE OF THE PLUNGER TO KNOW THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM. TOTALLY RUINED OUR PLANNED WALKING HOLIDAY.

We had a lovely week in Oak cottage.
It has been done up to a very good standard. The kitchen/dining area has everything you need. It was handy having the washing machine after muddy walks. The living room is cosy with a big picture window looking over the beautiful garden and a great log burner, which we used after a very wet walk. We loved the walk-in shower in the bathroom, providing lots of hot water. Both bedrooms have very comfy beds and storage/handing space. The bed in the large back bedroom is huge, and again has a big picture window overlooking the garden. The garden is shared but there is seating you can use. Sadly it was too wet during our stay but I did take our dog for a little wander around on his lead. The village is lovely, with lots of walks available. There are two pubs next to the cottage. At the Racehorses Hotel we took advantage of their take away menu, and both the pizza and Butter Chicken Curry were excellent. We also ate in The Blue Bell Inn and enjoyed the food. Overall we had a lovely stay and would be happy to return.

Arrived at Pemba Cottage on a wet miserable rainy day and when we walked inside, it was a little oasis of warmth, comfort and delight.
We settled our cases and such in and then made ourselves comfortable, as did our dogs, in the living room. The furnishings, beds and bedding is of a high quality and all very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and has just about every item you could wish for. Even a slow cooker. Very handy as we were obviously out and about exploring on most days. There is a log bin outside with a huge amount in it and you just load a large basket and store it in the corner of the kitchen for use as required. Pay for what you use in an âhonesty box.â The house is warm as it is, but we lit a fire for the night after a particularly miserable day out and made extra cosy. There is parking outside the cottage for one large car and space 50 metres around the corner should you have a second car. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, itâs a great base for exploring the area and I couldnât recommend it highly enough.
