What our customers say about their holidays
Eileen - Verified booking
We spent 3 weeks here in June and enjoyed the holiday.
The House was lovely, clean and comfortable, it supplied everything we needed â the walk in shower was excellent and the kitchen had everything anyone could need. It was truly a home from home. Caroline came to welcome us and offer advice of great places to eat and other than that the owners were not intrusive at all and the duck eggs were great!! If we had one [very] small complaint about the house itself, it was that the living room was a bit over-furnished, as another settee has been added since the photographs on the website which covered the full height window and meant opening that window was difficult due to having to lean over the settee to reach it, which considering the really high temperatures we had the first week was needed! However, our main problem was the enclosed field. We have a very enthusiastic German Shepherd and are conscious that he is not a nuisance to anyone, therefore the main thing we look for when renting a property is an enclosed garden, so the field was the main reason we rented this property. However, the grass was uncut and very high, which meant during the next 2 weeks when we had quite a lot of rain, when we took him out there, we ended up soaked to our knees. Also the steps up to it were uneven and difficult to negotiate as they are set into the back and curved in an arc with a steep soil gap at one side. The bracken on the bank was overhanging at least 2 steps and unavoidable when wet, so we couldnât really take advantage of that field. A small amount of maintenance, such as cutting the bracken back and mowing a path around the field would have made all the difference. As the outside of the house is a thoroughfare to the farm, so not enclosed and there were free range chickens wandering about, we couldnât allow him outside at all without supervision. Itâs a very small point and shouldnât put anyone off as people have commented that their dogs enjoyed this field, but they were there when grass would never reach that height. So it did spoil it a little for us â and him. Weâre very happy to recommend the house to everyone, just want them to be warned if they go in the height of summer, the field might be a problem.

Cedar Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in.
We found the position of Cedar to be really good because you had the views of the mountains in the glen, but also the pond. We have never stayed in a self catering property that was this clean upon arrival. The bed was comfy and so was the sofa. We felt we had a good level of privacy too, despite being amongst seven other cottages. Noise was not an issue. In fact, the only noise you would hear would be the sound of a Curlew or an Oystercatcher her or an Owl. We saw many red squirrels. In fact, the most red squirrels we have ever seen. The enclosed paddock behind 3 of the lodges was an absolutely awesome addition when you have a dog. This allowed for our dog to play safely with other dogs, socialise with the dogs, at the same time whilst we relaxed. But you do also have your own section of garden that is fully enclosed and private. We felt the lodge was mostly well equipped in the kitchen. We would suggest adding a mixing bowl for those that want to bake. And a yorkshire pudding tray of course. They do provide lovely scottish made toiletries and upon arrival, you receive a really lovely welcome pack. The walk down to the falls is lovely. There is a lot to do locally but bear in mind, despite being on the A9 road, you are isolated to some degree. We arranged for a Tesco delivery on the following day and we stocked up on fuel. The owners are really friendly here and helpful and always available on hand. Places we would suggest visiting are Pattack Falls, Cairn Gorm, Green loch, Creag Meagaidh, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl etc. Aviemore is very dog friendly. We would visit again for sure. And we would actually choose to stay in Cedar again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The area is outstanding.
The property is well situated for walks in the area. The peninsula is really worth a visit if youâve never been before. I could have easily stayed much longer. There is a lovely drive to Loch Shiel, if Iâd had time I would have walked to the loch from where that road ends. The view of the area from the top of this road was beautiful. Highlights were the warm welcome, the log burner was lit and the Christmas tree lights were on, candles lit too. After a long drive this was great. Kilcamb Lodge in Strontian. Superb food and location. The Oakwoods. The excellent log burner in the property. The very well equipped kitchen. The bath, with plenty of hot water. Comfortable seating in the lounge, this doesnât always happen I know. Sanna beach. Singing carols in the Ariundle Centre and Kates freshly made shortbread. The breakfast there is good too. Chatting with Adrian about how they arrived in this part of the world. Experiencing hail, snow, rain and the occasional glimpse of blue sky at Christmas. Last of all, but not least, the peace and quiet at Drimnatorran.

The house was great, spacious with a lot of facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Milk and biscuits left for us but I would have preferred a bottle of water or prior warning that the tap water is from a spring/bore hole and was tea coloured and tasted unpleasant. The location was great - less than an hour to Fort William/Glen Nevis, about an hour to Mull and Glencoe, just over an hour to Sanna beach and Loch Moidart so a really good base for getting to a lot of places. The local area is really nice too, very close to some decent hills and lochs and has a small village shop for essentials. The upstairs bed was incredibly soft so hurt my back but the others were fine. It was grubby in places like it had been cleaned very quickly (inside freezer and oven were dirty but the bathrooms were clean). The oven door didn't close and the function symbols were gone so it was a guess on how to use it! Decent accomodation in a lovely area, in the middle of nowhere but not too isolated.

Absolutely stunning views to wake up to that view for a week was breathtaking.
The house it's self was very clean very tidy throughout. It had everything you wanted. The extras that were left for us tea bags, coffee, milk, some snacks and lovely flowers was all very welcome when we arrived. We loved that you had to get the ferry across to the house, it made our trip even more fun(there is a road round but it's quite a trip on small roads) . Definitely worth a read through the visitors guide, it was recommended to visit the Audgour inn which was lovely and Audgour ales was brilliant and spent most evenings there sat outside taking in the amazing view. They have pizza night on a Friday which was delicious. We had fresh bread delivered from Audgour ales on Sunday morning and it was warm sooo lovely. Our host was brilliant easy to get in touch with and helpful when our car had a flat battery nothing was to to much trouble. Thank you for an amazing week loved every minute.
