What our customers say about their holidays

The property is not actually detached - its the end of the hosts home.
There were many maintenance issues at the property that need attention to bring it up to modern standards. The internal floors were dirty and needed a steam mop. The lamp shades were so old they are brittle and breaking into pieces. The curtains were difficult to pull together and would benefit from polishing and the curtain pole above the door is broken and falls off when pulled on. We did not use the cooker as the fixing in the wall does not look safe to use with exposed wires . There is a plug socket in the dining room that needs finishing off as it has exposed wires. This could be dangerous for a child. There are holes in the bathroom that need filing and are currently filled with kitchen roll. The other side of the bed in the main bedroom does not have a lamp so its hard for the person at the right hand side to get up in night. The kitchen is tired and dated and knobs come off when the doors are opened. The wardrobes would benefit from some new coathangers but this is usually the case in most accommodation. The bath would benefit from an actual mixer tap rather than a plastic hose. There is a strong smell of damp in the living room which would benefit from air fresheners or scented diffusers which are great at combating the damp smells that are usual in properties of this age. Unfortunately we found that this property was not up to the modern standards we are used to but we did find the hosts friendly and helpful.

The area is not particularly good for dog walkers who are looking for: a.
Long country walks, as the styles are not dog friendly and in some cases were blocked or locked by farmers. b. a local field to let their dog off for ball throwing etc. The only community field in the vicinity calls for dogs to be kept on a lead. If you want to use the restaurant facility for the Farthings Hotel immediately adjacent, then you really need to book. Not because the place is that popular and there will be a lack of room; but because the owner guests stressed out if everything is not planned and lined up to his liking (told us he'd serve us in about half an hour if we wanted to come back, but made us feel most unwelcome - so we voted with our feet). The fish and chip wagon comes along on a Wednesday, but not when they're on holiday. Not sure how you get to know though, as there's nothing mentioned on their website so we were unfortunately wandering the village looking for them and only to be disappointed. Quist Cottage itself is becoming a little tired now and probably due a good spruce up, but to be fair it's got a lovely garden and is exceptionally well equipped. Generally, this is a lovely location and ideal if you're looking for peace and quiet, but still within a short drive to shops and restaurants.

The owners are LOVELY - the fact there is a washing machine on site and chickens and free access to fields and a beautiful nature reserve.
It was incredibly thoughtful that tea, coffee and milk were all left for us on arrival - made us feel very welcome and special. The friendly chickens, cats, sheep and goats really gave a sense of connection to the land and the fact this is still very much a working farm. The kitchen was really well equipped and there was tons of hot water for bathing the kids home from the beach. The outside picnic table was lovely to have sunny breakfast at and the location is very close to lots of wonderful beaches, harbours and whilst still being within very reasonable driving distance of London and the south east. One small thing - it IS a beautiful old stone dairy cottage so the downstairs is very slightly damp, as most old stone buildings have a tendency to be, which was a little bit of an issue for my son's asthma - solved by airing with windows opened regularly - no problem really in summer, with sunshine and when you are out for most of the day. The sofa, chairs and beds were all extremely comfy, the WiFi was WAY better than I had expected it to be - I could comfortably work while there, and its homely and in keeping with this truly beautiful cottage. Thank you so much - I strongly suspect we will return....

We enjoyed our stay at the Wagon house.
The property is very rustic, with most of the basics. A few things which could be improved: The lack of shower was very disappointing especially as the base of the bath was damaged so bathing scratched your back. A small investment in a shower hose thatâs fits to taps would make a huge difference and I know this was available in other properties. The cleanliness was fine at face value but then there were spiders everywhere, we found a used pair of boxers in the room we were using for our kids and when retrieving our sons toy cars on a regular basis it was clear that the furniture had not been cleaned under in a long time. The hessian rug in the lounge was extremely uncomfortable especially for young children who crawl round on the floor. Big positives though: The quiet outdoor space and the fact that you can BBQ outside the accommodation were great and made our stay really social. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the fresh eggs were fantastic. The stream on site made a great afternoon/morning activity for our son to play in and race his boats.

Really enjoyed our 1 week stay here in July 2020 just after National lockdown 1.
Lovely cottage and gardens in a beautiful area. Lots of room in the cottage. We spent most of our time when we were at the cottage between the kitchen and the garden. In the kitchen area there is the large dining table and chairs and a handy sofa and TV. We spent a lot of time in the evening in the games room playing table tennis and darts. We were very lucky with the weather so were able to enjoy 2 or 3 barbecues and we cooked at the cottage (kitchen utensils were abundant) apart from one evening when we ate out. Fantastic area for exploring. We visited the Watchet area on Bridgwater Bay, Lyme Regis on Lyme Bay and many places in between. I'd recommend the cottage and the area and would go back myself.
