What our customers say about their holidays

Corr an Droma has potential to offer an excellent holiday, being in a beautiful location.
However the cottage is not represented by the photos on the website, which are presumably some years old. The cottage is in a state of disrepair and appears to have been neglected as regards maintenance and cleanliness. There were broken fittings (e.g. radiator, shower tap, shower door, lamp, bin etc.), bare ceiling light bulbs, no TV signal, no WiFi code in evidence, no basin in kitchen, no rail in one wardrobe, loose ungrouted tiles in shower tray etc. etc. The standard of hygiene was very poor, and the only tea towel supplied was dirty along with very dirty looking sponges and wash up brushes and dust on floors and other surfaces. There were also a lot of corners, shelves etc. that had miscellaneous items seemingly not seen by whoever cleans the property. The solid fuel stove had used teabags and partly burned plastic wrappers in it. This is by no means a comprehensive list....but suffice it to say a very disappointing holiday, made worse by the non-appearance of the cottage owner, who we rang shortly after our arrival and who said he'd meet us the following day...we heard nothing from him after our initial phonecall and left a voicemail the following day and had no subsequent response!

Great communication between ourselves and Liam, he was very helpful both on the phone and on our arrival.
Sadly, all three ladies expected a hairdryer to be available, so didnât bring one. Liam said he would try to get one to us, but was unable to do so. The moral of the story ladies is please take your own hairdryer itâs less stressful! One other thing to take into account, itâs a big place to heat, the oil and electricity are metered, so the extra cost should be thought about. Remember that Ireland doesnât have a postcode system like ours so sat nav is useful. I would also take a OS map too as it gives you a better view when planning journeys. The coastline is fantastic, we found isolated beaches for the 20 month old twins to run around on within 30 minutes of the house. We loved the place, the gardens are well stocked and a work in progress. The creaking floor in the room off the kitchen became a game, trying to cross it quietly at night! Love the fact that the hot water has a circulation loop so hot water is instant at any point, as long as you switch the pump on (downstairs in the basement).

We absolutely loved our stay at Whispering Pines.
When we arrived it was immediately obvious that this was no normal holiday let, and that it was actually someones part-time home. Everything you needed was here, and more. The level of comfort in the house is very high. Every aspect was top-of-the-range Each and every one of the beds had a decent proper mattress, and the linen was all 100% egyptian cotton - we all slept well. The furnishings were great, there was enough comfortable seating for all ten of us, and the dining table had room for ten people as well. Everything about the house was of good quality. Even the carpets were of good quality. We felt pampered. Ahakista itself is idyllic. It's just about as far west as you can go in Europe. There are huge skies, quiet days unspoilt by traffic noise or pollution, friendly people, and dark nights. Whispering Pines is in the best of settings. The view up and down the estuary is fantastic. We are really grateful to the owners for sharing this small piece of heaven. We'd love to return.

This was a lovely house in a lovely setting, the rooms were comfortable and to a high standard.
The gardens were lovely, well maintained and attracted a variety of wild birds, the Veranda was lovely to sit out on of an evening. The owner, Liam met us at the beginning of the let and explained the operation of the the heating etc, everything worked as advised and we had no issues at all during the week. Although Balleydehob isn't too far away walking the last section of the road is not really an option, no pavements and the N71 is a busy main road, anyone considering using the pubs and Restaurants in the village would have to consider a "designated driver" or local taxis. Another point to remember for anyone hiring the house is that heating and electricity are not included in the price of the hire, we had hot water and heating on as we needed it and it was well covered by the 200 euro deposit we left at the beginning of the let. We will most probably return to this house at some time in the future, highly recommended.

Had a lovely stay here last week 10-18 Sept 2022 with my dogs and mum.
A tranquil spot and the cottage is gorgeous. We had a bit of trouble finding it as Google maps sent us on a circuit close by several times and in the end we checked with owner. Cottage was v clean, comfortable and well stocked. Would have liked instructions left regarding tv, internet and cooker and downstairs shower was too hot to use. Reported to owner who popped by a couple of times for a nice chat. We loved the clear views and the cows coming by to say hi. Blessed with the weather and found it easy to access lots of West Cork sights from here. Loved using the patio with a glass of wine in eves whilst cooking dinner. An ideal base for a family or group of friends or for folk wanting a restful, peaceful break away from the hustle and bustle. Hosts Shiela and Michael were very helpful as was the lovely housekeeper. We really enjoyed our stay fully.
