  Lovely lodge with excellent views.

  We will rebook for sure, but have the following suggestions to make it even better. Provide a couple of coffee tables alongside the settees as there’s no place to put cups while seated. (We used the kitchen dustbin). Make the garden surrounding the property dog secure. (All 4 gates allow small dogs to enter and escape.) A simpler solution would be to put a gate on the stairs leading up to the lodge. This would allow dog owners to let their dogs out on the verandah with no risk of escape. As it is, we had to make a barricade with garden chairs to prevent this from happening. Consider satellite internet (Starlink?) as the current speed is next to useless. Provide J Clothes/kitchen rolls to wipe down work surfaces. We couldn’t get the oven to work and there didn’t appear to be any instructions. (The hob worked OK). Provide more takeaway menus if possible. The above are not criticisms, just suggestions. Best regards Andrew Barrett

  The photos in this add are from when the Lodge was first purchased and not it current state the arm of the sofa kept falling off the place needed cleaning by my Wife before we could relax the fridge was dirty there was old food in the cupboards from previous guests the decking was spongy and we did not walk round the side for fear of falling through the parasol had been repaired on 3 occasions I spoke to the owner and he replaced this straight away the paddock for the dog was not secured it's a good job she is friendly as we kept getting a jake russle size dog visiting us daily the grounds were unkept and very over grown this place is definitely not worth the £500+ we paid and would not recommend it to anyone the only plus I can say is Keith allowed my parents stay overnight as my son had his birthday whilst we were on holiday luxury this was not but it would be ideal for someone wanting to ruff it a few nights

  Superb location, well positioned for the east coast of Yorkshire.

  Close to Pickering. Very nice pub in the beautiful village of Cropton about 10 minutes walk. The Lodge itself is very clean and spacious in a very quiet but due to the trees dark location. Bedrooms are big enough but the double beds are too small for me and my wife but a King size would probably be too big for the rooms. Bed was hard and my wife found it very uncomfortable. Adequate wardrobe space. Bathroom is a wet room which is ok but took some clearing up after a shower as the water always escapes. The shower head clamp does not fit which needed some modification with a sponge cloth to make it useable. The Kitchen was very well equipped with Dish washer, good oven, and plenty of utensils. No washing machine which was disappointing. Lounge kitchen diner was very spacious and the furniture in very good order. All in all a pleasant stay but due to beds would not use again.

  What a lovely place !

  Perfect uninterrupted view. The location is very good - quiet and with a sense of being remote and yet very accessible and within a short drive to the A roads nearby. Great place for pooch too with safe enclosed area for a run. The owner was very helpful & quick to respond to any queries. He kindly provided us with an extra fan on the hottest day which was greatly appreciated. There was also a charging point for an electric car which I was able to pay to use which I found very useful. The lodge is clean, bright & well laid out with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Look forward to visiting again soon.

  I contacted the owner a couple of days prior to our holiday to ask if we could use the high chair for my grandson, which we have used before on previous visits to the property.

  He explained that the high chair was already booked for clients that were in the cottage(s) for the same time period as us. He would look into it and let me know. When we arrived at the lodge it looks like he had obtained a brand new high chair just for the occasion. Absolutely wonderful! We have stayed in the lodge quite a few times, whenever there is a problem, whatever it is, Keith the owner, tries his utmost to make sure we are happy and comfortable. It is one of the reasons, amongst many, that we keep returning.
