  This is a lovely holiday cottage in a great location, HOWEVER, Original Cottages did not inform us in advance that there was major building work next door throughout our stay with hammering, sawing, workmen shouting, drilling, loud music playing every day from 0800 until 1700. Separately, the dishwasher was broken and could not be fixed by two visiting technicians, so we enjoyed washing up to the sound of building work. Upon contacting Original Cottages after we had arrived regarding both issues, we were informed that an email had been sent several months ago regarding the building work but had bounced back. I don't understand why this bounced email was not followed up with a phone call or a second email attempt (and for info, several other emails were received from Original Cottages without issue). We were offered a 20% discount, however, if we had known about the building work in advance we would have made other holiday arrangements as this property is not currently acceptable as a holiday destination. We have one family holiday a year and this year's was neither relaxing nor peaceful. A huge disappointment.

  The Cabin was the perfect place to spend a wonderful Christmas holiday. The walk-through layout of the ground floor, from the tastefully decorated lounge, the well equipped galley kitchen, and the dining area with a 180 degree view over the salt marshes, was perfect for the 4 of us, spacious and well laid out. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and alongisede the bathroom and shower room, the whole house was very clean, neat and tidy for our arrival. An easy 10 minute walk gets you into Southwold, with wonderful eating and shopping opportunities (and a good few excellent pubs) and an even easier 3 minute walk takes you over the road, across the dunes and onto one of the East coasts best set of beaches, and the sea. If you have a dog, take it with you, if not, beg, steal or borrow one for mad long walks along the beach. We had a perfect time, and we will definetely be coming back to The Cabin.

  Great Location and a nice house which to relax in, the parking spot at the back of the house is a godsend and can be used for 2 cars with one parked across the bay... Reasonably appointed, comfortable beds, dining kitchen which will easily sit 10. The garden is quite large at the back and the front garden overlooks the Common and is great for sitting in watching the sun set with a glass of wine etc. This house is quite handy for the high street and the shop/ restaurants etc being only 5 minutes away, but is a reasonable walk to Gun Hill 20 mins or so... Most things needed in a holiday let are covered but we couldn't get the Sonus music streaming system to work off any of our iPhones but might just be us ! This is our 4th time in Forest lodge so that should say a lot ...

  The Cabin is in a fantastic location just a short walk to either the town or the Harbour, with the dunes and beach just over the road. Great views to the rear over the marshes, and to the sea from the main bedroom window. The property is very well furnished and has a large, well equipped kitchen. It feels very light and is certainly a relaxing place to stay. Although there is building work next door it didn’t really cause too much of an impact, (other than their 8am start!) as we were out during the day when they are working. The garden has beautiful views but was disappointingly neglected, there was some rusting and broken furniture and a table a 3 chairs all in need of a good clean.

  Garden Lodge is a fantastic cottage located at the bottom of Constitution Hill and very near Gun Hill Cannons. It is tucked away in a little court yard making it a very peaceful location but still only a couple of minutes walk to the beach or the town. The cottage is decorated and equipped to a very high standard. I loved the built in Sonos sound system, my daughter loved the Dyson hair dryers and my wife loved the wood burning stove. It was warm and cosy, the beds were super comfy and kitchen was great to cook in. We'll definitely come back.
