  A Perfect Stay at Hopkins Homestead – Truly Five Stars!

  Our stay at Hopkins Homestead was absolutely incredible and exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into making this accommodation special. The property itself was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully maintained—offering the perfect balance of comfort and style. The welcome pack was a delightful touch and set the tone for our stay. We were greeted with freshly baked scones, a loaf of fresh bread, creamy butter, homemade jams, and even a bottle of Prosecco (or a similar lovely red wine—it was such a thoughtful treat!). These little extras made us feel immediately at home and incredibly pampered. Sheila, the host, was simply amazing. She was warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. Knowing she was right next door and ready to assist if we needed anything gave us such peace of mind. Her hospitality really added to the experience, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about her guests. The location was another highlight. Hopkins Homestead is conveniently close to Dover, which has so much to offer. The city centre is charming and filled with great shopping options, lovely restaurants, and a variety of things to do. Dover Beach is just a short drive away, perfect for a relaxing stroll by the sea. The surrounding area also boasts plenty of walking trails, amusement parks for family fun, and scenic spots to explore. We left feeling completely refreshed and so impressed with the level of care and attention to detail that Hopkins Homestead provides. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with easy access to everything Dover has to offer, this is the place to be. We couldn’t recommend it more highly—this is truly a five-star experience!

  A superb property, only a few months old, with every amenity.

  A welcome pack was provided - the best we have ever received, comprising the usual bread & milk but also jam, marmalade, butter, scones & clotted cream - mostly from M&S - also tasty eggs from the hens on site - together with 2 x welcome packs for young children who joined us for a couple of days during our stay. Even the toilet rolls were good quality - Andrex. Sheila, the owner, lives in the adjoining property. She was very attentive and always available in case of queries. The garden was teeming with birds, all the usual varieties but also a kestrel. We stayed for 28 nights while our home was unavailable in January and hope to return again next year. The main bed was extremely comfortable as were the two singles on the first floor. The children enjoyed the upstairs bedroom which they treated as their "den". The location is very quiet with only local traffic.

  Hopkins is a beautiful cottage.

  Sheila the owner has clearly put a lot of time and thought into ensuring that guests have everything they need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. It is immaculately clean, with really comfy beds, beautiful linens and decor and is really cosy. The welcome packs for both us and our 7 year old son were amazing, as noted by other guests they are incredibly generous, such a nice extra touch. A lot of hosts could learn a thing or 2 from Sheila! She welcomed us when we arrived and checked everything was OK when we left which was really thoughtful. As well as being a lovely place to stay the cottage is also in a great location, a very quick drive to Folkestone and Dover and the stunning Samphire Hoe. I highly recommend Hopkins to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in this area.

  Rockmount is a beautiful house in a beautiful location. The house is really well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The house is very dog friendly with a lovely garden behind.There was so much to do in the area and fantastic walks with the dogs from the doorstep with the most incredible views. The upstairs enclosed balcony is a fantastic space to sit with binoculars and watch the boats and ships in the channel and on a clear day you can see the coast of France very clearly. It is also incredibly quiet as it is a no through road and we found the neighbours and locals in the area were extremely friendly. We wish we could have stayed longer and I highly recommend this beautiful house.

  Rockmount is in a lovely location, very quiet and a beautiful view from the 'Lookout'. A shame that house and garden were rather neglected. There was no welcome pack on arrival, the heating and the outside lighting didn't work and there were no instruction manuals for TV, heating, outside lighting, garbage collection etc. The carpets were loose in two rooms and there was mould in the porch. We would also recommend that the curtains in both south facing bedrooms should either be supplemented by blackout-blinds or replaced by darkening curtains.
