What our customers say about their holidays
Carole - Verified booking
The house itself was spotless and the kitchen was well equipped.
Good quality bedlinen and towels. Welcome pack was much appreciated. Very good WiFi and smart tv. We stayed 4 out of 5 days mainly due to the fact that I did not find the sofas or any of the beds comfortable - especially the creaky metal one. Also the traffic was loud as most of it was quarry lorries. My partner was fine but my back wasnât. Also there was no mention of proximity to a HUGE quarry which never seemed to stop producing dust, noise or lorry traffic. The parking was really tight and we ended up with a wheel arch scrape trying to position the car in the small space and the lane was blocked further up all week by a builders van which meant a perilous reverse out onto a busy road. Also the back view is of untended rear gardens and rubbish which we werenât expecting and was a bit disappointing. On the plus side the neighbours were friendly and there was a pleasant, safe dog walk over the road. I am glad we came but now knowing what the area is like we wonât return as there is too much industry and it is very busy.

Knoll is a lovely cottage in a stunning location. There are only two possible reasons not to come here: if anyone in your party is infirm, the access path is quite steep; also, if you require full designer fittings, it may not be the one for you - but the cottage is warm, cosy, well-equipped and clean (the kitchen isn't SMEG, but it's not smeggy either). For a traditional property, it's got bags of space, with good sized bedrooms and lots of communal seating. In terms of indoor comforts, it's got everything you need, from the boring amenities (washer, dryer, 2 loos etc) to log fire and satellite TV. The cottage is located in Youlgr(e)ave, a proper, vibrant Derbyshire village, but it's perched at the top of Bradford Dale, a lush, verdant valley, with a crystalline river (with great swimming) running through it. We did some first-rate day trips (cycling on the Monsal Trail, channelling our inner Keira Knightley at Chatsworth) so can confirm that Knoll is not only a lovely place to stay, but a great base for a brilliant break!

We had a lovely time at no.
3. It had more than everything we needed for a fantastic stay. It was clean, the bed was lovely and comfy and the wood burner added to the cosy feeling of the cottage. Location was good for walks into Matlock and Matlock Bath. The cottage was a bit cold when we got there but a quick phone call to the owners and the temperature was better (not particularly happy we couldn't control this ourselves and felt we weren't trusted to do so). The hot tub was the best we've ever used, (we have used lots!) big, lovely temperature, powerful jets and so sparkly clean. We used it a lot and it made our stay super relaxed. But if you want privacy this isn't the place for you. We were overlooked in the hot tub by both the neighbours, and the front of the house had nothing to stop people looking directly in to the front door and the big window of the living room unless you shut the curtains, then it was dark. All it needed was net curtains or similar. Because of the lack of privacy, we would not come back to this property.

3 Sunnyside Terrace was a beautiful base for us as a family of three.
It was well equipped and had all the modern features you might wish for. The kitchen was especially equipped well. It was warm and cosy. The hot tub was a perfect addition to the stay. Our points of feedback is the tv/remote needs looking at, it skips if you press the buttons too quickly and is frustrating slow and remote is sometimes delayed. We felt the written ârulesâ in both the bedrooms for checkout procedure was a little overkill. Asking us to clean out the fire for example made us feel we couldnât enjoy a fire on our last night as we were worried it would still be warm on day of departure so we couldnât clean it. Personally I would remove the lists from the bedrooms and just have one downstairs as a polite reminder. The location being at the top of a steep hill could be added on description to make that part clearer. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the property.

The perfect getaway.
We had such a wonderful break at Mulberry Cottage and would highly recommend it. Due to some personal issues, we had to amend our dates at the last minute but Carol, the owner, was incredibly accommodating and extremely helpful. Her communication throughout has been brilliant. The cottage itself is fabulous. Cosy, clean and very well equipped. Carol has thought of everything and clearly wants to ensure visitors enjoy their stay. The welcome pack of goodies was very well received and much appreciated. The location was also perfect for us. Easy access to all of the local attractions but also a delightful place in itself. A handful of wonderful pubs, shops and cafes, all extremely friendly and offering delicious food. We have had a lovely break and are very much looking forward to returning soon.
