  This was our first family glamping Holiday and although it was only for two nights but it truly was a wonderful experience, especially for the kids.

  The hosts, Nigel and Emma in particular, were both wonderful. Since this was our first such Holiday with kids, Nigel was very helpful over the phone to answer our queries prior to our trip and gave all the information that we required. Emma, once we reached was there to greet us and took us to our safari tent and explained what all we needed to do and where everything was. The toilet in the tent we were booked in was broken so we were moved into another safari tent and it was very clean, including the shower and toilet and everything was neatly laid out in the tent. Emma had also left us lovely fresh apple welcome drink and homemade lemon drizzle cake which was just scrumptious! Following morning we were shown around the farm, including milking of the cows and meeting the lovely grand parents who also help out on the farm too. This is a family run farm (three generation old), which is well looked after with all the family members helping out on the farm. In the tents there is no electricity, however, there is provision for hot water for both, shower and sink, via gas cylinder and solar panels. The tents do not have any fridge but a cooler box is provided and ice packs could be borrowed for free from their quaint little pantry where the guests can use the farm’s fridge & freezer to store any personal food items. In the pantry there is facility to charge all your gadgets and phones. On the all it was a great glamping experience and for us since this was our first time, 2 nights and 3 days, was just about good… however, the kids wanted to stay for one more day!   Part of me almost doesn’t want to write this review so I can keep this absolutely gem a secret, but that wouldn’t be fair.

  When we arrived, Glen met us at the property to give us a guided tour and to show us how to use the hot tub. She was so friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. The first thing you notice with the property is the size. It’s was huge and easily accommodated the 6 of us. It also has 2 double bedrooms which is a rare find! The vaulted ceilings also made it feel more spacious and light. Every room had a tv, fresh bedding and towels and even individual bars of soap which was a lovely touch. There had separate towels for the hot tub and for bathing. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with pretty much every utensil you could need. There was even basic condiments for cooking as well as products for cleaning / washing up. The hot tub was very relaxing and got daily use. There’s a privacy screen next to it so you’re not overlooked and you can just relax and enjoy the views. So, the views. The location is truly stunning. Set in its own private field, there is plenty of grassy area to enjoy and even 2 lakes which are well stocked with fish, if that’s your thing. There’s plenty of wildlife to enjoy, from wild deer to Kingfishers so make sure you take some binoculars. The nearest town was Bampton which had a couple of Spar shops, decent butchers and pharmacy and was only a 5 min drive away. All the locals roads were very quiet, but are well connected if you wanted to travel further afield. Can definitely recommend the Grand Wester Canal for a lovely walk. All in all we had an amazing time and will definitely be back soon.

  A very cozy cabin, which is bright and airy. The view across the field, including the sheep and the quiet make for a very relaxing spot to do nothing or just read a book. Although the location is well removed from other homes and the village along a number of narrow lanes, many interesting places and delightful pub restaurants are within easy reach. We had good meals at the "Villa Verdi" in Wellington, La Campanga" at the former "Eagle Inn" on the A303 as you approach Buckland St Mary from the east. Also there is a great daily carvery at the 'Hare & Hounds" just out of Honiton on the road to Budleigh Salterton. We enjoyed visits to the Wellington Monument, Bicton Park Botanical Gardens and also Stourhead on our journey home. We also undertook the challenge of a round of golf at Taunton & Pickeridge GC where we received a warm welcome. The cabin was the ideal base for our short break and the weather was better than we had expected. We will surely have to come again as it is also close to family and friends for a catch up.

  Ambleside is a beautiful property and we really enjoyed our stay.

  Thank you so much and we wish you well with your venture. We've stayed in quite a number of self-catering cottages and there is normally something that we're not quite happy with, but Ambleside and Colebrook Fisheries and Lodges were perfect. The view, the comfort, your hospitality - everything. The beds were more comfortable than ours at home and the showers more powerful and we were really impressed with how clean the property was and how many places we had to store belongings. Despite its size the cabin didn't feel small at all. If we're being really demanding, then a welcome hamper with a few provisions would have been handy (there was tea, coffee and sugar but no milk or butter) - but as you're only a short 5 minute drive to supermarkets it wasn't too much of a hardship to buy. A couple of games or jigsaws would have been ideal on the rainy day to keep the girls off their tablets but we enjoyed just admiring the view - even in the rain.

  Just wow. A hidden gem.

  Amazing , exceptionally clean lodge that has all you need. It has stunning views that you just help keep looking at. Sunsets we're amazing. If you like nature, this is the place for you. Binoculars are a must. Seen hawkes, rabbits,geese and if your truly lucky you might see dear and foxes. There's lots of land to walk around and an amazing carp fishing lake. Comfy beds and brilliant en suite facilities. Immerse yourselves in this beautiful quiet location. Owners Jo & Jerry are there if you need them and more than happy help in anyway they can. Good location for food shops and easy access to travel around wherever you fancy. It was truly a fab stay for my sister and I, but equally good for anyone. Has king size bed and another bedroom with 2 small single beds.
