What our customers say about their holidays

'Timbers' is primarily memorable for its spectacular views.
We were so lucky to have 'Indian Summer' weather during our stay and the watery panorama seen from three of the bedroom windows and from the wooden benches on the wide terrace, delighted and entertained us all. From early morning mists to bright sunshine, we think the Yealm Estuary is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Having our own quay for the week was great. We hired a double kayak from Trioceansurf in Kingsbridge (01548 854676). They provided a soft roof rack, buoyancy aids and seats for £25 a day. One of us also brought an inflatable dingy so we spent plenty of time messing about on the water. The house is well equipped although the bathrooms and kitchen could do with a 'sparkle'. There are three bathrooms but only one has a proper shower. With six of us we had to organise a rota system. We are all used to having a quick shower in the morning and baths are normally saved for a long soak in the winter. The fridge is much too small for a group of 6+ people. There is a freezer in the utility but that doesn't really help with day-to-day food that needs to be kept chilled. The Aga does make the kitchen uncomfortably hot at times but we opened the windows and that was fine. It was useful to have a drying rack there to allow damp things to dry overnight. We ate at The Ship twice and had takeaway fish and chips from The Dolphin one night - all delicious. Sausages and pasties from the butcher on NF high street were wonderful. The weather was so hot that I went in search of a sun lounger but was not able to find one. We all have very happy memories of our glorious stay. The views from Timbers must be the best in Newton Ferrers!

The house was lovely, very clean and well appointed.
Beds were comfortable and plenty of room for the 8 of us, including plenty of storage space which can often be lacking in holiday homes. We were especially pleased with the kitchen which had everything you would need and more. The second fridge was particularly helpful as we were a large group. We were able to park right outside most of the time which was really helpful. I have only give 3 out of 4 for comfort because the house was very hot! We turned the storage heaters down to the lowest settings and it was still boiling. We couldn't work out how to turn off the heated towel rails which seemed to be on 24 hours a day. Good to know that the house would be warm in the winter, but it was a bit much for us in spring and must be costing you a fortune! Also there were two stair gates provided but neither fitted on the stairs, so were pretty useless. Luckily our children were old enough to be sensible but could be a big problem for crawling babies. We loved the location close to Noss Mayo. It was lovely and quiet but not far to drive to bigger towns and Plymouth. We visited some lovely beaches and appreciated the folder with guidance on what to expect locally. Our favourite beach was Wembury for rock pools and we also had a great ice cream at Surfing Cow which is very local. We didn't get much use from the facilities on site as we were out and about a lot, but we briefly visited the tennis court and games room which were in great shape and nice to have the option.

We had a fabulous stay at Moon Lizard.
The whole space has been very well through out. The fixtures and fittings are finished to a high standard. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, as is the whole house, and the treats left for us were a very tasty and thoughtful touch. The living space is great for casual entertaining, and suits all ages. The little nook proved useful for the annoying (and inevitable) unfinished bits of work. Although we didnât venture out much due to poor weather, the outside space was great for the smalls of our group to get a bit of fresh air between downpours, and we imagine would be fabulous during the summer. As mentioned by another reviewer, we had no mobile service and I would recommend that before arrival any documents be made available offline to help speed up initial entry. Once connected, the WiFi was more than adequate. Huge thank you to Wendy and Jamie for the great communication, too. I hope all your guest enjoy their stay as much as we did ours.

The house was lovely, well equipped and so peaceful.
Moon Lizard had everything you could want for a relaxing holiday although, personally, we didnât find the sofas very comfortable, they felt like you were being pushed off all the time. Thats not meant as a criticism at all, we hope its a useful comment. The house is in a lovely setting looking over the River Yealm and there are a lot of walks to explore in the vicinity. Some of the walks include some steep hills so you need to be reasonably fit to do them. The walk across the causeway to Noss Mayo and back relies on knowing the low tide times but is well worth the trip. We chose not to venture far because we just wanted to relax but there is a lot of places you can visit from Moon Lizard. Our hosts, Wendy and Jamie, were very kind and helpful, even taking in an order for us on arrival day and supplying clean bedding and towels midway through our two week stay. We would love to visit again sometime in the future.

Lovely place, thank you for letting us stay there!
Fantastic place to stay with great facilities. Quiet out of season. Lovely nature walks and small villages everywhere. Saw Roe deer two days in a row in a field between Holbeton and A379. Beautiful narrow lanes across the whole area which required some artistic driving of a large car (could be a nightmare in peak season or bank holidays I'd imagine!) The permanent retractable stair gate from the lounge was a great subtle feature, not sure if they could be on all points of the stairs (but we did note there were removable stair gates in the cupboard that could be fitted). There are a lot of stairs at the property, but two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor too. Overbeck garden (Salcombe) and Wembury beach were to be recommended but having National Trust membership will save you a lot of money in entry and parking fees. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable week!
