What our customers say about their holidays
Alison - Verified booking
Property not as described on web site, especially the back garden.
Lots of noise and smells from garage from as early as 7am. Garden decking area and hot tub which had the lid screwed down and obviously hasnât been in operation for a number of years. No sail to protect from sun- missing. Table and chairs seen better days. All this looks lovely on web site but in reality is a complete disaster. Game Room/ Garage an absolute disgrace as it hasnât been cleaned for a number of years, dust and cobwebs everywhere. Sliding patio on to decking area are absolutely disgusting as the bottom rail which the door slides on is absolutely covered in dirt and debris. The top of fridge freezer was absolutely covered in dust and had not been cleaned in some time. Top of curtain poles were so dirty when we ran hands over the top of them, they were black with dirt and dust. The shower areas in the house all need to be ripped out and replaced due to shower door falling off the bottom runner a number of times during our stay which would be an H&S issue if it landed on your feet. Regarding shower trays and skirting boards next to them they are covered in mould. One of the tiles on floor of small bathroom has a hole in it this could be another H&S issue if you caught your toe in it. We know procedure to contact the maintenance team but felt they had not carried out what was needed before our stay. We have photographic evidence of all the above unfortunately these can not be posted on website. We will forward the photos to the Sykes website. We payed £1500 for our one week stay due to the condition of this property it is only worth £700. Please donât waste your hard earned money on this property as you will be sadly disappointed.

We would rate this property very good and location excellent. The footprint of the property is excellent with plenty of room, loved the sun lounge/porch and kitchen/utility room area, perfect functional place to relax, gather and appreciate the sea & mountain views. The kitchen is very well stocked and white goods all new. Plenty of space outside for parking and in good weather the picnic bench to the front of the property perfect for al fresco eating and socialising. Interesting remains of historical stone cottages from previous times all around. Four shower/bathrooms appreciated, downstairs shower excellent and powerful, perhaps upstairs electric shower less so. Some of the furnishings in the sun lounge and bedrooms/bathrooms could benefit from some refresh and updating, beds very comfortable. On a personal note I would recommend curtains or blind in the living room to make it a perfect, cosy retreat at night with the coal fire. Also no TV signal, and although we don't go on holiday to watch TV it would be a touch of normality to have this facility. Overall a very comfortable stay in an amazing location, the sea views are amazing, highly recommended. Amazing beaches, at least four excellent beaches all within a couple of miles of the property.

We stayed here for five nights while exploring the Highlands and Cairngorms National Park.
It was spacious and comfortable. Great location, with an easy walk to restaurants, pubs and groceries. We especially enjoyed Craigâs Bar and the Wee Puffin. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and cooking utensils but be aware there are no paper towels, sponges for hand washing dishes, or salt/spices provided. There was no shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom when we arrived, which made taking a shower there impossible. We were initially told a new curtain âwas on orderâ but it did show up prior to us leaving. One of the downstairs bathrooms had an issue with the hot water going out but the management company sent an electrician who fixed a loose wire. We initially saw this on VRBO and thought we had reserved it but the next day we received an email stating our reservation had been cancelled. It was still showing as available so I e-mailed with an inquiry. I received no answer but eventually reserved it through the Sykes website. There were a few hiccups with their online reservation system but eventually it worked. All in all, we would stay here again.

Talla Hope is an amazing holiday home if you want a remote self-catering experience in a beautiful place.
The cottage was very clean, comfortable and cozy. We stayed during a cold spell for June, only 8C one day. We were warm enough using the wood burning stove and/or regular heaters. We didnât use the storage heaters. The two bathrooms are really modern with walk in showers. The mezzanine bed and sofa are very comfortable. The nearest town, Staffin has a couple of basic shops. At The McKenzie Stores you can get basic provisions, fuel for your car and fuel for the wood burner. They also do an excellent curry takeaway. The hungry gull is open a few days a week (accurate opening times on Google) does really good food at all meal times at a reasonable price. They also serve alcohol. We enjoyed Portree, The Quairang, The Storr (as well as the old man), the boat trip from Elgol and the museum of Skye life. We wish weâd had time to do more things. I am in love with the Raasay whiskey and the Isle of Skye. We will return one day.

House was comfortable and clean.
Lovely situation with good views. Nice furniture and fittings. We were very lucky to experience good weather. There are no real drying facilities in the house should you encounter wet weather or anywhere to put wet coats/boots. Mezzanine bedroom has restricted height - was ok for us but maybe not for taller folk! Kitchen was well equipped although due to lack of space only a small fridge/freezer and no dishwasher. A welcome pack with a few basics would have been a nice touch especially considering the more remote location of the house and the weekly rental paid. It doesnât have to cost a lot to provide this. Take everything you need (tea, coffee etc) with you. The pub that is mentioned in the description we ascertained must be the Flodigarry Hotel - a 10 minute drive away. We ate here one evening which was very good but pretty expensive. Overall we loved Skye and had a great week .
