  We ended up feeling like the luckiest people on earth to find fairly last minute availability at this beautiful house.

  It’s situated in a picture perfect village with a great local pub serving really good food. The locals were so friendly, an evening sitting in the pub garden with a cold pint and a delicious meal was just heaven.There’s so much to do within half an hours drive of the house, a week really wasn’t long enough. We were 10 members of extended family and the house catered for us perfectly. Plenty of everything in the kitchen made cooking meals on a couple of occasions easy and stress free. The pub served us brilliantly the other nights and there is a good Chinese takeaway a short drive away. We had 4 teens with us and they practically commandeered the hot tub and pool table. The en-suites and huge main bathroom also meant that even with 10 people getting ready, there was never a queue for the shower. Vicky was the perfect host, so helpful and kind even offering to meet our grocery delivery on the first day if necessary. So to sum it up. Fabulous house in a fabulous setting with a fabulous host. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

  Fantastic stay at this property, it was the perfect to get away for a quiet weekend of celebration with family.

  The biggest selling point, for me, is the garden, which is a really good size. The patio/decking area is great, more than big enough for us (party of 8 plus a 3yo) to spend the afternoon/evening having a BBQ. There is a fantastic bamboo area and it's the kind of garden you can have a stroll around and visit all the nooks and crannies. Interior is well furnished and the beds are comfortable, we all slept well. There is ample dining space and plenty of separate rooms, so that if you are a large group you can be doing different things and not always on top of each other. There is not a lot of surrounding infrastructure (that is to be expected, based on the type of property) but there is a newsagent and pub at the top of the hill which takes around 10-15 mins to stroll up or would take 1-3 minutes by car. There is plenty of parking both at the property and in the nearby village square. All in all, a fantastic place for a short break.

  1. It's the hosts who "exceeded expectations" , not Sykes !

  The initial telephone contact was warm, friendly and informative; this was matched by the initial meeting and all contact thereafter. The Cottage came with a "starter pack" that included washing up liquid, toilet & kitchen rolls, salt n pepper & loadsa tea / coffee. Freeview tv a bonus. 2. We stupidly placed an item on the night storage heater, thereby staining it. They were so understanding and tactful even tho' they must have been seething with us. 3. The whole family enjoyed the break, especially the 2 x 12 year olds who made the most of the pool. 4. I was unwilling to spoil the ambience at the time, but the hosts might consider advising people staying in the place above The Cottage that every chair-scrape / footstep/ table move resonates down below ! Thoroughly recommend both the property and the owners who were unobtrusively there if needed.

  Beautiful property and amazing grounds.

  The house had absolutely everything we needed. Lovely welcome pack when we arrived. Everything you could want in the kitchen to prepare, cook and serve family meals. The dining table fitted us all around it perfectly. Beds were very comfortable, bathrooms really clean, the walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom was a real treat. Downstairs was very spacious, with a brilliant and cosy log burner in the lounge. The conservatory was glorious in the sunshine. The Xbox in the lounge and the outdoor games room were a wonderful bonus. We loved the patio area, the fish pond, the swings and the football net on the top field was an absolute winner with our son. The washer and dryer were also super handy when needed. The owner was very friendly and helpful when we had any queries. We would thoroughly recommend this property to our family and friends.

  Lovely house and gardens, perfect for our family holiday of 3 generations plus several doggies.

  The top field was perfect for the dogs to safely play, the bottom garden is not fully enclosed so could not easily leave dogs or children unattended. The swings, Climbing frame and football net was a winner with the children. Following a long journey we arrived at the property half an hour early but were unable to get in as the cleaners were still there so had to hang around which was a little annoying. We encountered a couple of issues during our stay including the gas bottles running empty. Giles was always contactable and pleasant and sorted out any issues quickly.
