What our customers say about their holidays
Nicola - Verified booking
We had a large group staying in this place - 4 adults, 3 toddlers and 2 dogs.
The location is brilliant as itâs just 30 seconds away from the beach, plus itâs right near the fish and chip shop, a one stop shop and a pizza shop. As for the house itâs more of a ground floor and basement. The upstairs is a flat. On the ground floor there is the living room which is lovely and it has a large dining table. Next to that is the en suite bedroom and then next to that are three steps down into the kitchen. The kitchen is tired and wasnât great for such a large group. There was a small under counter fridge and a dishwasher that really struggled to wash anything even though we rinsed everything first. The hob is electric and took a while to heat up and the oven had no markings on the knobs so you had to guess which setting you were on and which temperature. Off the kitchen is a corridor and this has two small kids bedrooms and a nice family bathroom, although the window handle on the bathroom needs replacing as it doesnât shut properly. Back to the kitchen and thereâs a door down to the basement. Down here are two bedrooms - one double and one kids room. Thereâs also a large family bathroom down here but only really able to use the bath for the kids as the loo says no number 2s! Thereâs a play room with a little sofa and tv and toys which is brilliant and a washing machine and small under counter freezer. There are double doors off the play room that open out onto steps up into the garden. Back to the kitchen and thereâs a back door which opens up halfway down some steps! The steps going up leads to the flat (so they also have access to the garden so not great for kids and dogs) and then down the steps goes to the garden, which is paved. There is a hot tub which I only used once as it felt cold. I emailed the owner and apparently it was supposed to run at that temperature (37 degrees) so I just left it and didnât use it again. Overall, Sykes the company are brilliant and had a really easy website and helpful staff on the end of the phone. As for this property, it was ok and the best thing was how near it was to the beach. A lot could be done to make this property amazing eg taking care of the tired kitchen, taking care of the furniture including the tired playroom sofa and fixing the window handle in the main bathroom.

The Herun is a superb property that has been very thoughtfully designed to make your holiday a great experience.
With high quality fixtures and equipment throughout and exceptional cleanliness, you certainly get a luxury break in lovely Rhosneigr. We all loved our bedrooms, each with its own gorgeous bathroom, and the communal space was great for family time. The kids loved the hot tub and eating at the kitchen Island. The kitchen was well equipped with excellent quality cutlery, crockery, knives, pans etc. The garden was a great outdoor space. Big enough but not too much, so we always had our dog in our sight. The front gates keep everyone in and are very easy to operate. The garden is dog proof for most normal dogs, but Sammy didnât disappoint and still managed to get out on one occasion by jumping over the front garden wall. Fortunately, he walked round to the gate for us to let him back in. The bungalow has a real âMediterraneanâ feel, inside and out, and is in a great location. The owners leave their details and are very contactable if needed. Rhosneigr has plenty of places to eat and thereâs a good shop. There are 3 beaches, all within easy reach, and nowhere felt overly crowded even though it was high season. We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend the Herun very highly.

The Herun is a fantastic holiday home, much nicer that the advert showed, everything you could possibly want for your holiday is there, the hosts Chris and Gail have the house spotlessly clean and all the facilities are there and then some.
The first thing you notice is the spaciousness of the house, the three en suite bedrooms are lovely and the extra toilet is nice touch. The open plan lounge and dining area somewhere to really relax, a lovely large smart tv, with a wood burner if the evenings get chilly, which we did not use as the underfloor heating kept a perfect temperature, a beautiful dining table and chairs and lovely glass opening doors to bring the garden into the house. Lots of little extras like games, books and even a jig saw. The kitchen is superbly equipped and the breakfast bar a nice area to chat. Outside you have a fantastic area to sit and the hot tub is a real feature, it is at a permanent temperature of 38 degrees so no waiting for it to heat up. I can't praise this house enough, the location too is perfect, just a stroll to the village with brilliant pubs bars and restaurants and of course the fabulous beach which my dogs thoroughly enjoyed. I have rented many holiday homes over the years and this is the best by a mile a real credit to the owners

The location is really what makes the property - right by the beach, corner shop, pub, restaurants.
As others have mentioned the bedroom downstairs smelled of damp, and there's a recommendation to run the dehumidifier that's in the room, but this would be noisy at night. The downstairs loo can't be used for a poo as it blocks. The biggest issue was the lack of curtains or blinds in the sitting room which fronts on to the road which has many pedestrians even at night, so you're on display. The front room has the main dining table and tv, so don't expect cosy privacy. Also as others mentioned the property could do with some care and attention. It's all a bit tired and lack of attention to detail. The hot tub is a nice bonus and works well, although the instructions left for visitors don't match the tub itself. The instructions for the wifi state that there's a 40gb download volume cap and ask you not to stream video - this doesn't make sense as they have a broadband BT router and BT don't offer a volume capped service.I suspect there's confusion with the download speed cap, and so there's no problem using the smart tv with Netflix.

Perfectly set up for a holiday home and deserves the 5* rating.
There were 4 of us with 2 dogs and we had a great time despite pretty miserable weather (it is Wales after all!). 5 minutes walk to the beach and 2 minutes to a great restaurant and pub. Plus you're within 30 minutes of any beach or village on the island. The Herun was ready for our arrival with the hot tub just about at the right temperature, a decent welcome pack and the nice touch of some dog treats included. We organised a Tesco delivery for the evening of our arrival so were fully set up and settled in within an hour or two. The owner/agent was really helpful and set up a zoned underfloor heating programme to our needs (my wife has Reynauds so needed it quite warm) - they really took the time to make it as comfortable as possible for us. Lastly, the Herun is fully equipped, to the extent that the special birthday treat we'd arranged, a private chef to cook a 6 course meal, had everything he needed to produce a top notch meal (added bonus that he left the kitchen spotless with no washing up for us to do). We will book again.
