What our customers say about their holidays

A Perfect Birthday Getaway!
The Spitfire Lodge is an exceptional retreatâa hidden gem and an ideal destination for a couples' getaway. The lodge is beautifully decorated to a high standard and maintained impeccably. The facilities are outstanding, leaving us wanting for nothing. The kitchen is fully equipped with every utensil, pot, pan, piece of crockery, glassware, and gadget one could possibly need. We were also delighted by the thoughtful welcome hamper, which included biscuits, chocolates, crisps, and brioche rolls, along with fresh milk in the fridge and a selection of tea and coffee. A particularly thoughtful touch was the inclusion of ketchup and brown sauce, which we had forgotten for our breakfast. The private hot tub and sauna were standout features, providing the ultimate relaxation, while the log fire added a cozy and inviting atmosphereâperfect for chilly winter evenings. Generous supplies of logs and firelighters were provided, ensuring a hassle-free experience. Lisa and Carl are exceptional hostsâattentive yet unobtrusiveâstriking the perfect balance to create a truly private and relaxing stay. Their communication prior to our visit was clear, helpful, and informative, making the entire experience seamless. Thank you for sharing this beautiful hideaway with us. We look forward to returning soon!

Realising after many months in lockdown we didn't need an extravagant holiday, so we chose to glamp it up and stayed in this most charming little Shepherds hut, in the middle of the countryside on the edge of a farm.
Warmly greeted by Mandy and her daughter, we were explained the ins and outs, and left to our own devices! No TV, WiFi or Internet connection, it was pure bliss and tranquility. We ventured out a couple of times, but quite frankly just enjoyed sitting out on the deck with a cuppa, chatting and playing games. The fire heated hot tub was the best ever! Mandy even text us before our arrival to see if we wanted it pre-heated, very thoughtful and I jumped at the offer. The tub was super toasty, and stayed warm enough to jump in first thing in the morning-and I took full advantage of this. Kitchen was well equipped for our needs, the fridge was much bigger than expected and we were able to fill it with more supplies. There was also a cheeky bottle of prosecco left for us and a bag of ice! An unexpected treat and very well received-nice touch that! The bed was a little hard, so 3 nights seemed a good amount of time to stay before any aches begin. Shower had a good pressure and heated quickly. I was worried with the recent cooler mornings/night I would get cold, but actually it stayed a very comfortable temperature throughout the day/night. And lastly, had regular visits from the resident and dog, super friendly and affectionate and just added to our wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely first floor apartment, accessible without steps.
It has a large, open plan lounge with a small kitchen area and dining table and chairs. Both bedrooms are comfortable, a double with en-suite and twin with bathroom right across the corridor. The garden was a pleasant area with hot tub which was fairly private. There is some road noise but the garden area is screened by bushes. The location is really handy for the town centre. Bishop's Castle is an interesting place with brightly coloured houses and shops. The apartment is at the top of town, where the castle once was and there is a partially steep hill down to the bottom of town where the church sits. Great places to eat nearby, within 100 metres or so. The Castle Hotel does a great Sunday roast. An Indian, Chinese and Fish & Chips takeaways and a spinkling of pubs and cafes. Lots of pleasant walks from the doorstep contained on leaflets provided. We tried a couple and found them to be accurate and very scenic. Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Montgomery are all worth a visit and vary between 30 to 50 minutes drive away. Finally, Adrian is a very attentive, yet discrete host. Had a great time, no rain and pretty sunny at times.

The site managers were lovely especially the male, both were approachable and friendly.
The accommodation was warm and comfortable. There were no accessible hoover, brush or mop to be able to clean. We took our dog and it would have been nice to have been able to clean the floor after our walks. The Hot tub smelled very strong of cloreen that it stung our eyes, we even told them not to attend to it for the last 2 days. During our week stay we only used the Hot tub 3 times which was part of the reason for booking that location. When the jets were on in the Hot tub black bits came out and were floating about, we even had to buy a net to try to clean the black bits out. When we arrived we were informed that the games room and bar area was closed. This was disappointing as we had two 12 year olds with us who was looking forward to the games room. We were left a folder with how to work things in the accommodation, however the Wifi code never worked to either of the log ins given resulting in two very board children. The Sky TV was our saving although this was still limited. The log fire was lovely but again there were nothing to light it with and we had to go a purchase a lighter to light it.

Had a lovely 3 night stay with my partner in early December.
Needless to say, the hot tub was the highlight and an amazing treat even in winter - refreshingly crisp, cold air coupled with steaming, toasty water! We thought we would need heated blankets and hot water bottles to keep us warm in the hut, but actually the portable heater provided was already enough to keep us warm and cozy. Mandy was very welcoming and friendly, and just a text message away from bringing us more logs for the hot tub. There were also friendly cats and a dog that liked to come say hello. The hut also has plates/bowls/glasses/mugs/utensils all provided, and also basic pots and pans. There's also a good-sized fridge that has plenty of space to store several meals (though we mostly went out to restaurants, plus a takeaway from Infinitii on our last night who were able to deliver straight to the hut). We really enjoyed our stay and are thinking of coming back again one summer to experience the hut during warmer weather! PS.
