What our customers say about their holidays

Tuft house is a huge, beautifully decorated home which makes a great weekend getaway.
The host gave us a lovely welcome and took the time to show us around the whole property. It is a beautiful home and tastefully decorated throughout. The rooms are a bigger than pictures make them seem and no one was short changed for the bed space as all options were comfy. We had 18 people so 2 people did have to sleep on a sofa bed instead of a massive kingsize behemoth mattress but it's ok for short stays. The surrounding area was so peaceful and we didn't have any noise complaints even late into the night. The view is amazing from the house and shops arenât that far (15 minutes wish) if you do need to go for a shop, with smaller shops in the village. I would recommend bringing some food to get you going as it is a small village with not many options but there is a barbecue which had been cleaned for our use and it was great to use that. Mobile phone signal in the area is basically non-existent which actually turned out to be a good thing, it engaged everyone and kept people off their phones. But it is annoying if you do need to contact someone or even contact the host for questions about properties, it's rare you can can use the phone. They do live next door so it isn't too much trouble to ask for help. There is a £300 security deposit which you have to pay before arriving. This is understandable but I didn't see it displayed clearly on the original booking page which I think is misleading when trying to budget for a mini-break. Sites like Airbnb handle these issues themselves instead of us having to supply a deposit, that was my only issue with the process and it was a fantastic weekend.

Tuft house was wonderful.
We were greeted by Sharon as soon as we arrived and the house was already open for us. All the rooms were clean and the kitchen was well stocked with Pans and Crockery. The beds were wonderfully comfy and lots of storage space too. There were two large fridges which were very necessary with such a large group. The BBQ was very clean and ready to use. The added bonus was the extremely warm and clean hot tub which we used every day and for a long time. Paddy the groundsman came during our stay and asked if we needed it cleaning, which we really appreciated, as it was very unclean because of the use. The heating was brilliant as it was very cold at times outside and very easy to use. One slight down side to the separate accommodation to the house is that you need to walk through one of the bedrooms, it didn't matter with us as we were family. However the bathroom here and the bedrooms more than made up for this. We also loved the huge garden as we had a family football match one day and this could have been a great cricket and rounders pitch too. We also walked down into the village a couple of times and had a meal at the Worsley arms, the food was excellent. Thank you for a lovely stay, Wendy and family

On arrival we were disappointed to find that the cottage is on a busy A road into Scarborough.
The noise of traffic, which included large lorries and cars whizzing past at speed (supposedly on a 30mph road) was relentless, even in the early hours. I really struggled to sleep. Because the weather was hot we needed the windows open slightly, but even with them closed it w2as noisy. Unfortunately, it did not lend to a relaxing peaceful stay. If I had known about this I would not have booked this particular cottage! There is also no parking, and had to park at the local village hall down the road. The property is quite overlooked by the next door neighbour (who luckily seemed to be away while we were there), so the hot tub is not very private. The only view is a stone wall and neighbours gardens. It was also a little inconvenient having to walk wet through the house to go to toilet upstairs. The bathroom looked lovely, but was not really user friendly, especially if youre not very tall or have mobility problems, as it was very high to climb into the shower. Sorry to be so negative, but we were quite disappointed with the noisy location. TBH we were glad to get back home to our peaceful home, and am looking forward to a good night's sleep and to hear the birds singing in the morning!

The cottage is really lovely and cosy, and hot tub/garden is great!
We had issues with plumbing in the bathroom (sink taps - hot tap very noisy and cold tap sometimes didn't work). There was also a leak on the radiator in the back bedroom which resulted in a wet carpet but this was sorted out by the owner the same day. The only feedback I would have is that there were only three wine glasses and three prosecco glasses (not matching) which was slightly problematic when there were four adults staying there!! There were also only two glass tumblers which was disappointing. I found it slightly odd that bath/hand towels were supplied but no tea towel in the kitchen - I did see the note saying to bring a tea towel at the bottom of the email, but I just don't see why it could be provided when everything else is?! Overall it was a great cottage in a great location and would stay again if I wanted to visit the area - would make sure I brought some glasses with me though! Thanks for a lovely stay

We had a 2 night stay in this gorgeous property and it definitely lived up to expectations.
There was four of us and there was plenty of room without feeling cramped. The kitchen/dining area is perfect size to chill out and all relax together so much so we barely used the living room. Everything that would we need was provided and the property was clean. The host had included small details including games and a lot of information of attractions in the local area. Although it is on a main road, we barely noticed passing cars. The only downfall is the lack of amenities in the area due to it being a small village and having specific opening times but we were aware of this at the time of the booking. Scarborough isn't too far a drive and there's plenty of lovely places to eat out and things to do. We didn't have any issues during our stay and was just what we needed for a relaxing break away. Just disappointed we didn't book for longer! Definitely recommend and hope to book again in the future Thank you very much!xx
