What our customers say about their holidays

A very comfortable stay for the 2 of us and our dog.
Our experience was only slightly spoiled but a couple of minor issues which should be able to be resolved quite easily: Only 2 knives, forks, spoons, t-spoons in the property. Whatâs the problem? Thereâs just the 2 of us, right? Of course thatâs correct but a set of 6 would have enabled us to make sandwiches, slice fruit, have dinner and have enough to do the same on the following day. The cutlery we were left was not of an expensive quality so no risk of theft, although we did feel that we werenât to be trusted. Nitpicking again Iâm afraid but as we used the log burner every night, we also used the fireside tool set to clean up after each night. The hand brush was our issue and had clearly seen better days as far a bristles were concerned; given enough time and inclination (both in short supply) we could have counted the individual bristles on our fingers. Ok, that was an exaggeration but hope you get the point. On the positive side, a free supply of logs was made available for the duration of our stay - we've never found this before at any other rental properties. Thatâs about it. Please donât let the points above put you off. They are trivial but annoyed us somewhat so felt the need to make the owners aware.

Our stay at Apple barn cottage was lovely! Such a beautiful setting for my Mum's birthday. It is great that each bedroom has it's own bathroom and plenty of personal touches such as dressing gowns for each guest and a treat on arrival (we were lucky enough to get freshly baked scones). The hot tub is right outside the back door and always warm; it is lovely to be able to relax after a long day of exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas. The location is perfectly placed to visit some iconic attractions, such as the falling foss waterfalls and tearooms, Whitby Abbey, Robin Hood's bay and so on. There are leaflets within the property to give information about the surrounding areas and the cottage is a cosy and warm setting to return to with your family/friends. Julian welcomed us all on arrival, he and Julia are lovely hosts.

Ash Tree Lodge is a perfect gem hidden in the beautiful East Riding countryside.
The cottage was extremely well appointed, spotlessly clean with a large comfy bed and plenty of room for two and a dog⦠the owners, Chris and Frances were on hand if we needed them but left us to enjoy our week with a welcome pack and all the information we needed for a comfortable stay. The surrounding area was perfect for us and our dog, with plenty of great walks. The garden was secure and they have thought of everything for your furry companion to enjoy the holiday with you. The hot tub was amazing and felt very private for relaxing. The weather was kind to us and we were able to use the sun recliners out on the patio. If you are looking for a romantic getaway with comfort and privacy in an idyllic setting then this is your place⦠we will definitely be back. Thank you both

The property itself is extremely inviting.
Everything has been thought out well. From the entrance porch with heater to the Belfast sink in the garden to wash those dirty paws or muddy boots. What I found most appealing was that the location is quiet with lots of walks. You can lose yourself in your thoughts or a dam good book which by the way there is a good selection of. Then if you want to blow the cobwebs away there are several beaches within easy reach and after a long day doing nothing you can relax and soak your bones in the Jacuzzi. Final a huge recommendation to Melbourne Butchers and Bakery, Main Street, Roos HU12 0HB. This shop has the wow factor with meats sandwich's and delicious cakes. So for that romantic meal head there for your ingredients.

We recently had a week's stay at Ash Tree Lodge and the place is absolutely gorgeous and had everything you need for a very relaxing week, it's a place I could of happily lived in forever.
The gifts left for us was a lovely welcome surprise. The place was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hot tub was lovely/clean and very nice to go in, in the evenings. One local pub made us and our dog very welcome, with dog treats and even a dog bed for her to lay in. They weren't doing food when we stayed but should be now. The other pub NOT dog friendly. The only slight negative for us, and really and only on a personal level was the sofa/chair were not reclining ones to put tired legs up. The smokers shelter was the best we have ever seen and my partner was well pleased when it dropped cool. We would definitely return and highly recommend
