What our customers say about their holidays

What a gem, this was a last minute booking for my wife, daughter and myself.
Having stayed in similar properties previously, I can say that you get so much for from this one. A few little things which made an huge differenceâ¦. All BBQ firewood included for the fire pit/bbq, topped up daily at no additional cost. Hot tub without a restricted control, allowing you to turn the heat of the tub up as you wish. Games room with a pool table and table tennis table, with football nets, cricket equipment to keep children entertained. Welcome pack including the best written directions that I have ever seen, for great local walks, with notes where local pubs are etc. The pods a perfect size for a family of two adults two children, there were plenty of space with just the three of us. The pod was clean, well maintained, it was as new, clearly well looked after by the owners. All the basics were provided for cooking, including outdoor tools for the bbq. A full size under counter fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and double hob, all like new. The location, the pods are located on a very quiet country road with parking just behind your pod. Great for the one clear night we had, to see all the stars. All the grounds were well maintained with electric secure gates on the entrance and perimeter fence/hedge. I could go on all dayâ¦. I will definitely be re-booking, a 10 out of 10. Thank you to the owners, who were very friendly I may add, Iâll see you soon.

We loved this place, itâs small and cosy yet has all the mod cons like Hive heating, wi-fi, decent electric shower, smart TVâs and a hot tub with a roof!
The beds were comfy, the house is well presented and well stocked. The oven/ cooker is top notch too making meal times easy. There is a well stocked shop âBudgensâ within a 2 minute walk, a cafe in 30 seconds walk and three pubs within 20mins walk. There is a good Chinese and pizza takeaway with a Londis nearby too. Hull is about 25mins away whilst York/ Leeds in about an hour drive. We found it a tad noisy in the mornings with the master bedroom being on the front and the toilet kept getting blocked (which is also downstairs at the back of the house - frustrating for those midnight pee runs). The fridge is fine but the freezer is a tiny compartment at the top of the fridge limiting frozen foods. A lot of the tourist leaflets were 2022 or older and the suggested walk on laminated paper is taken from a map in 2008 so is no longer accurate with road names and access routes due to renovation in the area but this is such a minor grievance⦠The owners left us a nice welcome gift including some milk and tea/coffee for when we arrived. Briefly spoke to the owner Darren before departing on the final day who seemed pleasant enough! Overall we would def recommend and look to revisit in the future! :-)

The cottage is located in a lovely village with friendly people and a couple of dog friendly pubs.
Booked this property particularly for the hot tub. On arrival noted in the 'welcome pack' that the owners want to restrict use of the hot tub on the last evening for maintenance this isn't mentioned in the listing. While they offer the option to contact them they have left no contact details. Had to take time out of our break to contact Sykes to arrange use for full duration which is only reasonable given premium price of stay. On 2nd day while we were away from property someone raised the temperature of the tub making it uncomfortable to use. And on the last night the tub shut down at the specified time even though we requested use for the full time. Having complained about this and owners refused to acknowledge that we have not received use of facilities we paid for I would not recommend staying at this property if you wish to use the full facilities for duration of your stay. The restriction on use and the fact that owners would enter to change hot tub settings during stay should be clearly listed as had this been the case would not have booked in first place.

House was small but quaint although it was quite dark and it could use better lighting in the living room.
Small fridge/freezer so pointless bringing your own frozen food as no room to store in the tiny freezer compartment. I didn't realise from reading the ad, but the house is actually on the main road so there can be noise from traffic and from people. Neighbour was quite noisy especially at weekend when they were working on their motorcycle revving the engine so sometimes made sitting outside a non starter. On plus side, the downstairs toilet/bathroom was large and clean with a huge bath. The hot tub was great and big enough for two people comfortably. Private parking was a bonus. The village was very scenic and people friendly. Most people seem to have a dog so is very dog friendly. Nice walks with the dog and lots of rabbits everywhere. Close to a Budgens shop so recommend you don't bring a lot of food and buy what you need when you arrive. Overall a lovely village location but would have better if house had been in a quieter spot.

Horseshoe cottage is an absolute little gem.
It is so cozy and comfortable that it was a challenge to leave it at all during the day. The cottage is spotless and everything you might need is provided for. The hottub was a very welcome sight at the end of the day of exploration and the wooden pergola meant it could be enjoyed no matter what the weather had in store for you. The temperature was perfect and we had full use until the end of our stay. Our host Emma made sure everything was to our liking and the welcome gifts were much appreciated. South Cave is a beautiful, friendly little village with everything you might need, but if you fancy a little expedition further afield do try to visit Beverley, a bustling market town with an array of independent shops. We couldn't fault our stay and we would highly recommend Horseshoe Cottage. Would we be back??? Absolutely!!! Thank you for making our holiday memorable for all the right reasons. Susanne, Chris and Mia xx
