What our customers say about their holidays

Beautiful lodge.
Beautiful setting. A balanced scoring. Usually when looking to book a break away, photos can make the accommodations look bigger than the actual size, but we were really pleased that this was the other way around, the lodge being bigger than anticipated. Great space for a family get together. Open lounge and kitchen diner is perfect when socialising when cooking. The table space for eating is again great! The position on the site was perfect. Having a morning cuppa sitting on the upstairs balcony watching the birds & ducks was a real treat. A heron even popped in to help himself to morning breakfast. The hot tub was similarly a hit with a glass( plastic wine ones are there) of Prosecco, a bottle was left as a welcome pack. All rooms have their own heating regulation which is a bonus to meet a number of peopleâs temperature preferences. As with any underfloor itâs tricky to regulate âinstant heatâ so I would suggest regulating the heating (and time) in each room when you arrive based on your usual order preferences, rather than what the previous occupier has set them as. when we arrived some rooms were set at 30*! - we turned them down but the clock setting was set incorrectly so went extremely cold later in the evening as it had turned itself off in night mode. Easily rectified for the rest of the stay. While the Lodge is minimally furnished, again perfect for a holiday letting, Sadly taking a closer look the cleanliness wasnât the best. The fridge/ freezer hadnât been cleaned properly, food crumbs & sticky residue left behind, the chopping boards in the kitchen cupboard were greasy as was some of the cutlery. Dust and fluff underneath the beds. The hoover was stored in the utility room cupboard & stunk of damp. No mop or other floor cleaner. The starter cleaning pack didnât include any bacterial spray, only a 15ml washing up liquid, cloth & 3 dishwasher tablets, so wasnât sufficient products for cleaning before unpacking. After phoning the management company to find out where the requested cot was kept, I was quite shocked to find out it was kept in the utility room under the sink, not in one of the 2x bedrooms that had significant walk in wardrobe space, despite the the call handler explaining the reason being limited space. Not what I would call appropriate infection control. If the cleanliness issues could be resolved. I would have given this lodge a straight 10 and 5 stars.

Small but perfectly formed, The Dairy was a wonderful home away from home for our week's break (hubby, myself and our dog).
It is very well equipped and had everything we needed for a restful break. On arrival, Karen escorted us to the cottage and went through everything with us and the welcome tray was ready and waiting for our cuppa. Yes, it opens out onto the cottages car parking area, but this didn't particularly bother us. I would perhaps suggest maybe voile in the window(s) to help a little with privacy, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us. The bed is comfy (quite soft) as are the couch and chair in the living area. The laundry room is literally just through the side gate should you need it I did wonder prior to our stay how peaceful it would be on a site with multiple cottages/houses/caravan pitches in such close proximity to each other, but I needn't have worried in the slightest. The site is peaceful and tranquil, with a beautiful area to walk around the lakes. It is beautifully kept and managed, and is exceptionally clean. Karen clearly takes great pride in what they have achieved at Jockhedge and I can see why. The area is perfectly placed whereby nothing is too far to travel to, whether that be the dog friendly beaches or the towns and cities. We visited Lincoln for the day as it was only an hour's drive away and is well worth the trip. For beaches, I can recommend Chapel Six Marshes and the beach by the North Sea Observatory (both of which are dog friendly) and within a few minutes drive of Burgh-le-Marsh. I would also recommend a trip to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve as another peaceful place to visit and walk (note that dogs aren't allowed on the beach path during April to September). On the one day it absolutely tipped it down, we visited the Seal Sanctuary at Skegness as it is dog friendly (with the exception of the cafe, gift shop and floral/butterfly house) and spent a lovely hour or so wandering around. All in all, we had a lovely time which was made better having somewhere so lovely to return to at the end of the day. We will definitely return again to the area next year, most likely renting one of the cottages with a private enclosed garden (purely for convenience of a nightime wee for the pooch).

Would not label as dog friendly and barely dog tolerant.
The Dairy is not really suitable for dogs unless you want to put them on the lead & go out every time your pooch needs to answer the call of nature. The Visitor Pack is a long list of rules & regulations with little in the way of a welcome. Welcome pack was a small pack of ground coffee, a local Plum Loaf and a pint of milk - no shampoo/conditioner. You arenât allowed to leave dogs unattended so were unable to use the hot tub. For couples without dogs the Dairy is small but comfortable with certain aspects looking very tired eg bad cracking around door in the shower room. A major issue is the door into the bedroom - this opens about 18 inches before hitting the bed so is unsuitable for restricted mobility or wheelchair users. Wardrobe has to be locked as the door swings open otherwise. Zero privacy unless curtains are closed - the Dairy fronts onto the car park where everyone walks past your windows. The outdoor sitting area is also on the car park. The grounds are excellent for dog walking if you ignore the â dogs on leadsâ signage and are sensible. Our two slept in a crate (dogs not allowed on furniture or in bedroom) so really needed a morning run. As we were charged £30 per dog we got zero for our money ( being Cavapoos there is no shed hair to deal with). Overall it was a good week as the weather behaved, if it was raining it would have been an endurance test.

Firstly i would have liked more info about the fishing ahead of arrival, however as this turned out it was fantastic.
Lodge 24 is amazing and was only let down in my opinion by not having an enclosed deck area so my dog (Cockapoo) could wander around when the doors were open without visiting adjacent lodges! (But the neighbor's were all ok with his visits, some even giving him treats), but this would not deter me from revisiting. On arrival we had a welcome pack and everything was relatively clean and tidy. The main downside i noticed was a lot of fruit flies and spiders in the downstairs bathroom and corner of the lounge where the floor lamp was. Also the microwave and oven were a nightmare to figure out how to operate. They were both great equipment, however operating even the basic functions was arduous. Aside from the above all i would ask is that the hot tub area have better privacy screening as the current lattice screens do not offer much privacy. I also thought it strange that an 8 person lodge only had one under counter fridge in the kitchen and was expecting to find a freezer somewhere. Despite checking all the units i figured they didn't have one as most visitors wouldn't need any frozen food. It was only on checking out i found a floor to ceiling fridge freezer in the utility room lol. I swear i looked there too.... Anyway, Lodge 24 is exceptional and very well appointed throughout and i will hopefully return soon.

The Dairy is a pretty compact cottage front of property is on the main car park with no frontage to speak of .
I sat out front for a cuppa on the footpath outside the cottage and felt like taking parking money as others arrived on the gravel car park. Photos make it look like itâs next to a courtyard not a car in sight untrue we even had a car parked outside our bedroom window. on arriving went to put suitcase in the bedroom and the door opened onto the bed and bounced back on my head no room to fully open the door in fact no room to swing a cat fortunately we had our dog but that was a big problem as not allowed off lead anywhere or to be left unattended so no visit to hot tub for us! 20 acres of lovely grounds to explore as long as dog was on a lead luckily there was a beach 5 miles away. so our dog could play ball etc they charged £30 cash for dog not sure why as not allowed on furniture so no extra cleaning required. definitely not dog friendly. we took photos of car park(sorry our country view) we left a day early couldnât take anymore nearly left on day one but we had paid a lot of money. The Dairy would suit a slim couple( ref bedroom door) and no dog. Good news we could watch our car from the window.
