What our customers say about their holidays

The lodge is lovely, and very spacious.
The rooms are well thought out, in terms of the layout, and the kitchen is well equipped. Everything is clearly very new, and looked after. Itâs positioned nicely on the site; itâs not a through route so there are very few passing vehicles. Itâs an easy location to get to â just off the M6. You can hear the gentle hum of traffic as it gets later, which works like white noise so isnât a problem. Local amenities are good, with several supermarkets within a mile or so, including Tesco, Aldi and a Booths in Carnforth. Whilst the lodge is lovely, and the owner is freely available on WhatsApp, there are a few things which might make a stay here a little more straight forward, which could be solved by giving more information in the Welcome Pack, such as o How to lock the balcony door. Without instruction, it is difficult to lock so that it cannot be opened externally (even though you think it might be locked from the inside), thus securing the property. o How to work the Nest heating. Its locked remotely, which means you cannot alter longer term settings around when it comes on and off. However, you can adjust it locally for the immediate temperature control, but if you (or your kids) accidentally turn it off at the plug, youâre stuck. Youâll need to message the owner to reset it. Thereâs a room you cannot access, which is marked as Private. I understand why the owners might do this, however, there was no mention of this in the listing. I presume itâs some sort of utility room, so freer access to additional items such as bin bags, a washing machine or even just a little bit more storage space if youâre here for longer than a couple of days, would be helpful. Whilst we were there, we had some issues with the plumbing in the en-suite. I messaged the owner, and a maintenance chap arrived within about 20 mins. He suggested that this might be a hangover from a central problem on the site, as theyâd needed to drain the whole system a few days earlier. Overall, a lovely stay on a site, with a helpful host, which is well located to access the beautiful Lake District.

A lovely cottage with everything you need for a really comfortable stay for two, four people might struggle though as bathroom upstairs is an en suite, but a lovely downstairs shower room too.
The beds were so firm & comfortable we both slept so well. The cottage is really nicely furnished with 2 very comfortable sofas in the lounge. The photos don't do this lovely cottage justice, it is actually nicer in real life and that's rare! The welcome hamper was such a lovely touch and very generous. Apple TV was nice to have too. The cottage is very close to popular walks and towns, and the local pub (Sundial) is friendly and food good. Nothing to dislike about this place but a few things might be helpful to mention: Great Lavazza coffee pod machine and the coffee is really good, (better than Nespresso!) but we could not find anywhere to buy the pods which was frustrating - might it be an idea to suggest where guests could buy them locally or offer an honesty box where guests could pay to get more pods? There is a detached garden, as stated and it is really pretty. Perhaps more signage to the garden might be useful as, to get to the garden you have to go past a neighbour's garden which is all open with no fencing at all. Luckily she was gardening when we took the dogs out (she hates dogs too) so we had a friendly chat & kept our dogs off her garden. But it is a problem (especially if she's not in her garden) as dogs will naturally walk onto the first bit of garden they see. Sadly the neighbour refuses to put up a fence & is not happy that guests dogs naturally wander into her open garden as there is no fencing. We strongly suggest she puts up some sort of wicker fencing or something with a sign on her low wall to avoid future problems. It didn't detract at all from our stay as we found a lovely walk just opposite the pub to take the dogs for early morning and evening walks. The fluffy hens and ducks in garden opposite are a delight, as are the lovely little children feeding them every morning. Absolutely charming place and highly recommended! We'd love to come back for longer!

Firstly we loved the location and the size of the property itself.
There was 7 of us and we had more than enough space to relax. We loved all the outdoor space! All the bedrooms were nicely sized and the beds were really comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed which was great! Only down side would be that the rooms were a little dusty and had alot of cobwebs everywhere. One thing to note about the property is that we had alot of issues with the lights going out and the water not working. On day 2 and 3 in the morning, the water stopped working so some of us couldnât shower, even worse there was no water coming from the kitchen tap so we couldnât even get drinking water or do the dishes. Eventually in the working it started working again however we noticed if you had the dishwasher on the water in the house would not work. Also if you put the oven on the electricity would trip for the outside lights. Overall, we did enjoy our stay at beckhall.

Beautiful cottage ideally situated for for the coast, lake district or the dales.
Pub directly opposite. Please be aware that the free car park is for 23 hours, saw some cars with tickets so make sure you move your car for a while each day. The only thing I didn't like and it's only a very minor thing, is the shared pathway to the gardens. It was fine till the last couple of days as nobody else was staying on the other cottages but then someone turned up next door with two enormous dogs and unfortunately thought it was OK not to pick up their mess on the pathway. We only have a miniature dachshund so were confident it wasn't our dog that had done it due to the amount there was, also had to be careful not to let her out if they were there as she would've been cornered if they decided to go for her. Only a minor point but worth knowing. On the whole a lovely place and would highly recommend and we really enjoyed our stay ( apart from the odd huge spider

We had a lovely holiday here, the lodge is beautiful one of the nicest lodges that we have stayed in, love the colours they all match really well.
Lodge was comfortable, clean and plenty of space and storage in bedrooms and bathrooms, some lodges we have stayed in in the past only give you around 6/8 hangers in the wardrobes but this one had plenty. We have stayed on this park 6 times now and this lodge was a favourite I would recommend. We ate twice at the restaurant waters edge dinner was lovely and we went for breakfast on our last day before heading home breakfast was ok but I have had nicer. We went out everyday to different places Kendal,Windermere,Ambleside, Keswick and Morecambe some beautiful places to visit apart from Morecambe I donât think we will be going there again as it gets worse every time we go very run down place but all in all we all had a fantastic week and we will be visiting again in the future.
