What our customers say about their holidays
Anthony - Verified booking
This barn is secluded and peaceful,it has everything you need for a quite relaxing break, it is literally home from home, all you need is food.
We did find that the water was different from our water up north/Manchester and it left a slimy residue in our black tea but it was still fine to drink,we decided to buy bottled water for our cups of tea. Their are 3 good size bedrooms, the shower in the bathroom have great water pressure and are lovely and hot,all towels and bedding are provided, the barn has underfloor heating in the kitchen which is constantly on and it also has full central heating. The upstairs living room has enough seating for 6 people. Our only faults were the tap on the sink in the upstairs bathroom is extremely noisy when turned on which could easily wake people up in the bedrooms either side, the floors upstairs do creak slot when walking about and as the bedroom downstairs is directly below the upstairs bedroom, you can hear people walking about in the night,we also had an infestation of ladybirds on the bedroom windows in both bedrooms, probably around 80 ladybirds on one single window in both bedrooms. We managed to stop them in the upstairs bedroom by putting tissue over the window vents but we couldn't pinpoint where they were getting into the downstairs bedroom. Overall this barn is a lovely place to stay with a little village 10 minutes down the rd with a small shop and pub. Everyone is also extremely friendly. Charles the owner gave us a phone call on our 1st night asking if we had settled in ok,which I found very nice. I would rate our stay in this barn at 9 out of 10

Facilities inside the cottage were generally very good.
The furthest back bedroom lacked a bedside cabinet which was quite irksome as there was nowhere for me to put my glasses and phone at night. Even a small shelf would be useful here. Heating was good although I had to manually turn down the temperature before going to bed as it seemed otherwise to run all night with the associated noise from the expanding and contracting pipes/floorboards. The large fridge in the kitchen was excellent as was the milk and loaf - a nice touch and appreciated. The tumble dryer filter had apparently not been cleaned for a long time, and was completely filled with fluff, to the point of being a potential fire hazard. I cleaned it but we eventually did not use the washing facilities after all! But having both a washing machine and dryer available was excellent. We figured out how to use the TV/Sky Box in the downstairs lounge which was fine for the amount we used it. Parking is a huge issue - but probably not much you can do about it. If we wanted to return to the cottage during the day for more than 30 minutes we were stuck, as finding a parking space anywhere near the cottage was all but impossible. And we had to leave by 08:30am if parked outside or just hope the traffic warden hadn't been down that street yet. Twice I got a parking space over the road - luxury! Would we return? The lack of parking would be a deterrent, but the cottage was very good.

Really lovely, comfortable cottage.
Great location to explore the local area and a really comprehensive guidebook provided by the owner with lovely photos, recommendations of places to eat, local village guides and suggestions for trips out. We particularly enjoyed a trip to Woodall Spa followed by a drive to Sutton on Sea for fish and chips. We were a little taken aback by the layout of the cottage - the lack of internal access (although the walkway was covered) to one of the bedrooms and bathrooms was a surprise. This probably needs mentioning in the listing as this would not be suitable for everyone, especially those with younger children. The cottage was lovely and clean and well maintained although there were lots of flies upstairs and hundreds of ladybirds around all the window frames on arrival. The kitchen had everything we needed and was well stocked with crockery and glassware. Bedrooms were comfortable and plenty of towels were left. The owner rang the day after we arrived to check we had everything we needed. Although dogs are welcome at this property, they arenât allowed into the sitting room which is upstairs. The owner informed us of this after we arrived and again, I feel this needs mentioning on the website as it wouldnât suit everybody to leave the dog alone in the kitchen. Overall, a really comfortable stay in an area we will definitely return to.

Weâve stayed in different lodges in Tattershall over the past 4 years.
This one was by far the best! Up to date and fresh furnishing. Bath is a bonus as my child hates showers. Full size single beds - not the smaller ones you get in caravans. Good size wardrobes. Washing machine is a bonus so you donât go home with loads of washing - ideal for if you have kids or long stay. Dishwasher- thumbs up. Shower en suite - good size . The lodge is in a quiet area overlooking the aqua sports lake. While there are people on the lake 10-6/7 pm you donât feel like it invades your privacy. Itâs fun to watch. You can sit in the hot tub and relax with the beautiful views. We took food with us because the restaurants in the complex arenât great and you need an entertainment pass. But we have previously used local pubs/ the chip shop and Chinese which are are 4-5 min drive max. Thereâs a farm park 5 mins drive - £6.50pp which is a fun day out and Woodhall spa nearby for walks, visit the outdoor heated pool. There are RAF aircraft practicing above which we love and donât mind the sound. We didnât want to leave because the lodge was so beautiful. My advice if staying in Tattershall- pay the extra for lake views! As soon as returned home we booked a weekend in October here.

The lodge was lovely.
Clean, spacious and comfortable. The x box had some excellent family games which was perfect for when it was raining. The grounds were also lovely. The hot tub had a lot of use! The castle was closed but there is a nice little walk on the website which is only 1.9k so good for kids not wanting to walk far. This was a private booking and unfortunately we werenât made aware we would need passes for everyone to access the facilities. We werenât interested in swimming but the passes were needed just to access the restaurants and arcade. This cost a further £50 which made eating out very expensive indeed. The money paid didnât even include crazy golf which was another £5 per head. It also meant a long time in a queue waiting to get into guest services to pay for the passes. Part of the reason it took so long is we hadnât been told we would need to register for COVID reasons before getting our passes. We also werenât informed everything needs booking online which meant we were very limited in where we could go, what we could do and when. Overall, this was a good break and I would definitely go back but information could be significantly improved.
