What our customers say about their holidays
Minati - Verified booking
The property is situated in an excellent location, minutes away from the sea and sand.
And having a designated parking facility was a great help. We felt the owner has put a lot of thought into what makes a good holiday home, especially for a family. - Upon arrival, we found a welcome gift which was so touching. - Very clean and spacious place. - Comfortable beds with plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. - The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of utensils and saucepans. We were pleasantly surprised to also see the provision of plastic cups and bowls for young children to use. - The dishwasher was a lifesaver with 2 children to look after. (From past holidays we knew that things like toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and bin bags are provided to cover for a couple of days, then it is the guestâs responsibility to buy more. So we were prepared for that). - Many extras were provided during our stay: Beach towels (in addition to the towels in the rooms), Family board games (which we really looked forward to in the evenings) Bucket and spade (which my son was delighted with). Foldable clothes airer - Loved the different pieces of art works around the property; the wall hangings and seaside models. - Very good wifi, although phone signal can be weak depending on the network provider so used Whatsapp to make most of our calls. - We think this property makes use of a system boiler with a tank. So while the water pressure is amazing, once the amount of hot water runs out from the tank, you will have to wait for the boiler to heat more. We found that a full tank was sufficient for 2 adults and 2 children to take a shower one after another, but not when someone takes a bath. Whilst this property is not advertised for disabled people, we just wanted to add that we have a daughter who is completely reliant on her wheelchair. Because the property was on the ground floor with the patio door opening to the front, it made things much easier when bringing her in and out of the property. Also, the sofa was large enough for us to keep her comfortably seated in one corner with plenty of cushions to support her. And the carpet was a very good size to give her body a good stretch and exercises. There is the Fishermanâs Walking path which takes you to the sand area. It took us about 8 minutes walking to get there. And whilst the path is wheelchair accessible, the route back can be quite steep to push a wheelchair so we would recommend using the Fishermanâs Walk Cliff Lift which is open till about 5pm. If you want a wheelchair person to enjoy more of the beach, then we recommend traveling to Boscombe Pier. There you will find a Mobi mat installed on the sand (on Undercliff Drive close to the roundabout), which allows the wheelchair person to get closer to the sea but still being on the sand. And if they want to be in the actual water, then you can hire a beach wheelchair from the Boscombe Seafront Office. Recommendations: - To have details of the nearest laundry in the guest book. We use google to search for everything but for those who may not have a smartphone would benefit from this information. - Another clothes airer for the other bedroom would be really nice. - The only thing that was a bit awkward in the property was the bathroom basin. It is a really spacious bathroom, so we were surprised at the very narrow basin. It is sufficient for washing hands but not washing the face. We think this was probably something installed by the developer across all the flats in the block rather than the individual owners. A slightly bigger basin would make it brilliant.

We were, initially, very excited upon entering Plas Elyn.
You can tell that the owners spent a lot of time and money doing the place up. I really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and sitting in the dining room with a cosy blanket when it became chilly. The house has an amazing view and despite incredibly grumpy neighbours (actually, the woman not the man) we were very happy to be there. Unfortunately, there were a few things that were things with the house that caused real concern, which led us to think that either the current owners were duped when they purchased the house, or its on them. - The main room smelt of damp - there is definitely a leak in the house. The sooner they address this, the better for all concerned. - The boiler stopped working at least x4 times that we know of. As above re fixing - The stairs to the living area are unsafe - The radiator in the bedroom with the en-suite, never came on (this is where my mother-in-law was sleeping, so not good). In addition to that, the housekeepers forgot to leave towels in the loft rooms, and we were unable to use one of the loft rooms, because the carpet was soaking due to a previous guest. We could absolutely cope with the last two issues, however the heating/no hot water x4 times and the issue with the stairs left us very concerned with this property. I would hope the owners have the conscience to resolve our biggest concerns ASAP before someone really gets hurt. Kind regards Tina

We absolutely loved the Boats, the location is perfect and the apartment itself is wonderful.
We did leave a note for housekeeping, as there was an awful lingering smell from the fridge when we arrived, which we discovered emanated from a bottle of milk that had been left and which had curdled. There was also a bag of frozen chips in the freezer, which could have been useful perhaps, but we never cook whilst away, as we make good use of the abundance of restaurants nearby. The batteries on the remote for the bedroom tv need replacing, as do the back-up batteries on the smoke/ heat alarms in the second bedroom and kitchen area (the red warning lights were flashing every few minutes). We did have a problem in the car park, as the car in the adjacent space was a large Range Rover. Fortunately we had travelled in my wifeâs small car so with a bit of effort we managed to squeeze in. If I had brought my own car, we would not have been able to park due to the stone pillar at the one corner of the space limiting access. Perhaps prospective holidaymakers could be advised of the limited space available, and recommend, if they have the option, to do as we did and travel in a reasonably sized car. We would also have found it helpful to have two door keys (two are described in the welcome pack, but only one was provided). None of this was a major concern to us though, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The holiday was very good.
However my experience has been extremely tarnished by the entirely unacceptable customer service. I left the accommodation and later realised I had left a drawer uncleared with some expensive clothing and other items in it. I have called you and sent 3 separate messages through the portal the first of which went on 31.07.2024. Each time I received an automated response telling me it would be dealt with within 24 hours. Now 11 days later I have not had a single response. I do not know whether the clothing has ever been found and could be sent to me(you clearly state for a fee if £30 this is possible) or whether it has been taken - I simply have not heard anything at all. I have booked 3 holidays with Sykes and I will after this never do so again.

We are a group of 5 retired ladies on a long weekend get together at Plas Elyn.
The house had everything we needed including, warmth, coziness, high standard fixtures and fittings, comfy beds, fabulous views from the upstairs lounge and the garden and an ideal location for exploring by car. The loft rooms are accessed by a small spiral staircase which may be an issue for young children or those less spritely than they used to be. For us, the only issue was the low beam at the top of the staircase which one of the party managed to bang her head on on the way down. Fortunately no serious damage done to either the head or the beam! Thank you to the owners for the two bottles of wine- they were appreciated! We all agreed it was a lovely house and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
