What our customers say about their holidays
Susan - Verified booking
Alwinton Lodge is a comfortable welcoming home from home.
The kitchen especially is very well equipped. Cooking with a set of three saucepans, a large sauté pan and a full set of tools was a pleasure. Dogs are catered for with their own doggy box. We did not use this however, because our mini-Schnauzer, Archie, has his own holiday kit. He did enjoy the treats that were left though. Northumberland is very dog friendly. Archie visited Cragside and Bamburgh Castle with us and enjoyed all their outdoor spaces. The road adjoining Fram Park does not have a pavement, but there is a grass verge up to the pavement further up the road. Archie had full days out with us, so did not need very long early morning walks. While is it is essential to have a car to get around, there is free parking in Alnwick. We enjoyed a bus ride on the X18 with Archie to Morpeth. This is an interesting town to visit with pleasant river walks through their park. In Alnwick, the Information Centre is part of the Playhouse/Library complex. There are no signs outside and even the locals do not know where the I.C. is. All staff were very helpful and gave lots of useful and interesting information. This was an extremely relaxing week, enjoying sunny autumn days in the natural beauty of Northumberland countryside. I would highly recommend this lodge if you like peace, tranquillity and dark starry skies. We look forward to staying here again at a different time of year.

My husband and I went for a three night break in Badgers Set.
It was a wonderful experience. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly; showing us around the hut and how to warm the hot tub. They phoned us in advance of us arriving to ask our estimated arrival time so that the hot tub could be warmed. There was a folder containing helpful information about the facilities and local amenities. We brought along our Labrador who had a welcome pack of his own waiting for him with throws for the furniture, treats and bowls. The setting was absolutely ideal for relaxing in a âget away from in allâ place. I was initially worried that the hot tub would not be private enough, but the careful layout of the huts meant that it absolutely was. While enjoying the hot tub, we were able to hear only a small waterfall near by and enjoyed a clear sky and all the stars! The hut itself was spotless with beautiful fixtures and fittings. It was warm and comfortable, with both central heating and a gas log burner. There is a large parking space allocated to each hut with well maintained pathways to each hut. Whilst we were there, we enjoyed nice walks in the local area and visited the nearby small towns. In the town we bought a picture of an owl, drawn by a local artist, to remind us of an amazing barn owl that flew overhead whilst we were in the hot tub. We would not hesitate to recommend Badgers Hut, we had the best time. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay in the lodge. It was lovely, in a beautiful spot and definitely located in the best part of the park. It was also respectful and nice to see that just because we have a furry family, the standards aren't dropped in a pet friendly accommodation. We love Northumberland, it's just stunning wherever you look. It was clean and furnished beautifully with good quality furnishings The sofa, chair & beds were all super comfy. The shower was fab. Being able to sit out on the verandah when the sun was out was a treat & enjoy the fresh air in the park. Easy to find , located in Swarland which was a beautiful little village, lovely pet friendly pub nearby called the Cook & Barker , had an AMAZING Sunday dinner and a lovely tea there. Unfortunately never got to sample the food in the coast & country , it ran out of food but we did have a lovely breakfast at Nelsons in the park. It was really cold when we first arrived, but the heating literally only took minutes to warm the lodge through. We were then lucky to have a few days of sun. Have made a couple of recommendations re duvet covers we felt were too thin for the time of year & a microwave upgrade, but what a fab place. We really enjoyed our stay in the lodge and would definitely go back, it's inspired us to investigate lodges ourselves.

We were in Rose Lodge.
There is virtually nothing in the property advertising to suggest the lodge is right in the middle of a farm. Our pup escaped the lead the minute we arrived and ran after a rooster, as all the farm birds are roaming right next to the properties. Our lodge was at the end which was right next to the barn. While we absolutely love animals, we have a reactive dog who reacts to animal sounds. I also have hay fever so spent my time with a runny nose and streaming eyes. I think it should be clearer in the description that farm animals would be wandering free. I also think a gate at the porch of the property would add an extra layer of security, rather than having just the front door. The TV cut out one night and apparently it's a common problem. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay, the lodge is beautiful, very well equipped and very close to the gorgeous beach. The beds were extremely comfortable. I would recommend Link House Farm for a peaceful break and the perfect base for exploring the Northumberland coast.

I actually dont know where to start with the review.
We had the most perfect break at Badgers Set Cabin. Its been a stressful 6 months and I actually only buried my mum two days before we arrived. This place has given me time to reflect, repair and rebuild my soul. The owners are amazing! Welcomed us and showed us around...lit the hot tub so it was all ready when we arrived. A warm exceptionally clean Cabin. Stocked with all the cooking utensils and crockery you need for cooking on the hob and microwave. Little touches of emergency contact numbers, treats on arrival, a book with local restaurants, pubs, places of interest and much more. Our dogs loved being able to walk through the fields and go down to the stream in the woods. So if you are looking to relax, unwind, recharge your batteries.or explore further afield....then this is the place. We didnt want to leave!!!!!..I could have stayed another week. We will definitely be back soon....its just PERFECT!!!! Thank you to the owners for helping me through this difficult time .
