The nearby village of Ambergate has the nearest shops, while the historic town of Belper is well worth a visit, not only for its shops and eateries, but for the rich heritage it holds. Head to Strutt's North Mill Museum housed in a former cotton mill with guides in full costume, it'll be like going back in time, afterwards taking a turn around the scenic Belper River Gardens.
