Holbeach is the closest town and can be found within 2 miles. This has various independent pubs, restaurants and cafes for you to choose from and enjoy. A little further afield is the market town of Spalding which is worth the 20-minute drive for a day out. There is so much to do and see from Huntspill Cottage, so why not book a few extra days?

Unfortunately although the cottage was nicely decorated, the cleanliness was poor. When we arrived, we found melted cheese still under the grill and the oven had bits of old food, the air fryer had tin foil in it and operation markings missing and the kettle has rust on it, toaster not been cleaned out. Just as well we were eating out.Shower room tail ring also rusty, and toilet seat loose. As previous occupants have said the mattresses are very uncomfortable. As we were packing up to leave my partner found crisp packets under the bed in the second bedroom (were they left there on purpose by previous occupants?)It's a shame because it's a lovely cottage on first impressions as you walk in.

The majority of amenities were available in Holbeach, which is a nice flat 3 mile walk away. We walked there in the morning, had coffee and cake a pub lunch and a nice wander back. On foot takes approx 1 hr. In car about 5 mins.Generally clean and tidy only detraction was the flaky paintwork in porch, lounge/kitchen wall and corner of the ensuite bedroom. probably a rising damp issue. There is a diagonal wall crack in dining area of lounge near where a picture fell off the wall. Kitchen crockery and cutlery were adequate for our needs (4 persons)Lounge and dining area were very comfortable. The mattrasses were a bit springy and could do with replacement as could the pillows. Plenty of storage ...and TVs :)This is a getaway from it all cottage , so nothing is on your doorstep! We liked that.Excellent value for money for our 1 week stay. We would stay again. One suggestion we could make for the owners is to provide a folder with info in, i.e. Bin Day and what to do with recycling, rubbish, glass etcAttractions in the area and further afield, local takeaways, restaurants, pubs.

Pleasant stay, an information pack on how things work in the cottage would be useful.Including where to find the back door keys, where to place bins, Netflix password etc. A few decor touches needed.Contact with host was spot on.Overall a pleasant stay for a couple of nights.
