When we arrived at the apartment there was no power. Which was not a great start to a birthday weekend away ….it was sorted in about 3hrs, but took several calls and was stressful. Really didn’t appreciate the sarcasm of the Lowestoft based customer service support man from cottages.com..…..I know you’re at the other end of the country and can’t do anything ’in-person’ - but it’s still your job to resolve issues and not irritate customers in the process!Anyway ….back to the apartment couldn’t fault the apartment, well decorated, bathrooms & kitchen all modern and new. Slight cons: parking area at back rather scruffy, lounge windows very grimy on outside - a window cleaner is needed, pint of milk to have that cuppa when you first arrive would have been nice (but there was no power for the kettle anyway!)Pros: well decorated, well positioned for exploring the town. There aren’t that many holiday rentals in Cockermouth & I would consider staying here again if coming to the area.Would recommend Shill’s for tapas style food & the Bitter End for a quiet drink.

Standard of property and location very good although only a single parking space down a tight (for a large car) back lane. Advertised as having a king size bed but they appeared to be doubles. Front two bedrooms on main road which is pretty noisy. A high step from pavement which could be a problem for some. We found the property very warm and due to street noise, opening windows not posible. Beds very comfortable and lounge, bathrooms and kitchen well stocked and very clean. Would be very good value for 6 persons. Highly recommended.
