Within the Lake District National Park are Castlerigg stone circle (National Trust), Shepherd’s Crag, Dove Cottage Wordsworth Museum and Hardknott Castle. Good walking abounds with gentle lakeside walks and more strenuous walks - notably Helvellyn and Skiddaw. Lake Windermere offers boat trips and good shops; Keswick (6 miles) has tennis, riding, golf and fishing; sailing on Lake Bassenthwaite.

Really comfortable apartment in a beautiful location. Pub just across the road is a bonus. A little dated but for the price there are no complaints.

It could be amazing but unfortunately due to lack of TLC it is pretty average. Attention to detail is none existent. All lightbulbs are different tones and wattage making it very dull in kitchen and lounge. Bathroom nicely upgraded but the blind is broken and taped together causing it to have large gaps between the ventian slats allowing privacy to be compromised. The seating in the lounge needs a good deep clean as the arms and seats are soiled.. we took throws to cover before sitting on it. The settee is a sofa bed but had food stuff under the seats, a wardrobe in the lounge? As it is only advertised as a 2 person let and crockery etc is catered for this. It does have a good selection of bowls/ cooking appliances should you be cooking a meal. But as stated earlier very dim in there. The bedroom has so much furniture in it, that you bang your legs walking between it . Simple things like coat hook in hall as you enter building, and a on the bathroom door would be so useful.The contact number you are given is never answered so should you need assistance for anything would not be any good. The couple of members of staff working in the grounds, which are beautiful were very polite and helpful, you have to just find them.If you go here with average expectations you won’t be disappointed, but certainly wouldn’t get many points if it was featured on the tv programme Four in a Bed

Customer experience is not top of the list. Beautiful location let down by the only member of staff we saw had paint all over their clothes and muddy boots. Showed us to the suite. No information regarding amenities such as where to put the bins out or who to contact if we had an issue. The porch at the top of the stairs was falling to bits with holes in the wood. On entering the first thing you see is the bed. The front door leads straight into the bedroom. The bathroom is modern but the blinds had tape on them as they were broken and the shower had very little pressure. The apartment itself still has traces of its former use as there are locked doors you cant get through. The furniture in the lounge was bedroom furniture with a wardrobe and dressing table. Kitchen was dated but worked. There was no access to switching the heating on even though there was radiators. The towel rail in the bathroom was constantly on and couldn't be switched off. Wouldn't like to stay in the colder months. Its a beautiful spot which they could do so much more with.
