Guests say

Longlands Milkmaid's Parlour is a charming, cosy cottage set in beautiful, peaceful grounds, ideal for couples and dog lovers seeking a tranquil retreat. Guests consistently praise the idyllic location, delightful walled garden, and easy access to scenic walks and nearby villages. The cottage is well-equipped for self-catering stays, and the staff are noted for their friendliness and helpfulness. While some mention minor cleanliness and maintenance issues, and the cottage is compact with a spiral staircase, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return for another relaxing break.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, especially the bedroom and kitchen, but several reviews mention issues such as dirty furniture, flies, and missed cleaning under appliances. The majority of feedback is positive, though a few guests felt standards could be improved.

The location is highly praised for its peaceful setting, beautiful gardens, and proximity to Cartmel and the Lake District. Guests appreciate the easy access to walks and local attractions, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable by most, with a relaxing atmosphere and good heating. However, some guests found the sofa and bed uncomfortable or in need of replacement, and the spiral staircase may not suit everyone.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and pleasant garden spaces. Some guests noted missing or outdated items (e.g., lack of frying pan, old furniture, misleading bath description), and maintenance could be improved in places.

Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, and some guests mention a welcome pack, though its contents were sometimes considered meagre. While thoughtful touches are appreciated, gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

Thank you for such a wonderful stay

It is up a lane with a few pot holes so take it slowly. It is about a mile from the pretty village of Cartmel along a narrow road so take extra care if you want to walk into the village. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped but not modern or luxurious. It is not suitable for the elderly or infirm due to the spiral staircase and sloping bedroom floor. We found it easy to visit Windermere Kendal and the mountain road to Eskdale all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. We felt that this property offered good value for money and would return.

If you’re looking for luxury this isn’t the place for you! The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed for our short break. Set in lovely grounds which was ideal for our 2 dogs and only a short walk into the village. Whilst there’s no path into the village the walk on the road is only a short distance. If walking in the dark just make sure you take a torch and we also got reflecting bands. We were met with a lovely welcome
