Guests generally enjoyed their stay at the Old Chapel, appreciating its proximity to Kendal and the South Lakes. The local amenities, including a well-stocked shop and a highly praised pub, added to the positive experience. The property provided a clean, comfortable base for exploring the area, with some minor suggestions for improvement.
The property was described as clean by several reviewers, with no major complaints about cleanliness, indicating a high standard of upkeep.
The location was frequently praised for being close to Kendal and Windermere, offering easy access to outdoor activities and the Lake District, with lovely views and a peaceful village setting.
Comfort was generally rated well, with mentions of comfy beds and a warm heating system. However, there were some concerns about dampness in a bedroom and noise from upstairs.
Facilities were adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen and essentials like WiFi. However, guests noted a lack of certain kitchen items, such as a frying pan and teapot, and suggested additional amenities like more hangers and a bedside table.
While guests appreciated basics like dishwashing liquid and towels, there were no mentions of gifts or welcome packs, and some guests missed having these. It is politely noted that such extras are not guaranteed.

A wonderful stay. Super close to Kendal but far enough away you get lovely views and quiet. Small but fine for 2-4 adults

Levens is in a fantastic location for exploring the South Lakes. The 2 bedrooms are very compact. One of the bedrooms smelled damp so we slept in the other one. There were inadequate kitchen pans and utensils to enable us to home cook our meals. For example, no frying pan for breakfast. There was no welcome pack so don’t expect any tea bags, milk or bread. A part toilet roll was provided along with some washing up liquid, handwashing soap and 2 dishwasher tabs. The heating system worked well and kept us nice and warm and there was WiFi and Freeview TV.We had a fab stay. The local shop in Levens is well stocked and opens from 8am to 6pm daily (shorter hours on a Sunday). And, the Hare & Hounds Public house was amazing. We frequented it daily during our 4 day break. We ate in the Barn for my husband’s 65th Birthday and the food was amazing. We would happily stay in Levens again.

Lovely cottage great for getting around. Very tight space to get through the lane to the parking space. Ended up parking in the road. Mised having a welcome pack, and bring spare toilet roll as had to buy some. Upstairs could be a little noisy at times especially 6am in the morning.
