We are thrilled to offer this idyllically located, lavishly furnished and generously proportioned property for four people. Situated just outside Ambleside with breathtaking views of Lake Windermere and surrounding mountains and yet within walking distance of the village. The house (all except the Amdega conservatory) dates back to 1840 and is full of character and is one of three properties converted from a previous Country House Hotel, but has been redesigned for the 21st century and much use has been made of Laura Ashley fabrics and furnishings.
The semi-detached house is of an open plan design consisting of a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living room, with a fantastic conservatory featuring the dining area, and two delightful en-suite bedrooms with wonderful views across the valley towards Wansfell Pike. Immediately outside the house is a lovely patio complete with garden furniture, and benefiting from stunning views. The garden then slopes away from the house down a meandering lawn with mature borders to the ’secret’ garden which is a beautifully sheltered sun trap.
The central location of the house to the Lake District makes it easy to access the many and varied attractions the Lake District offers. Footpaths begin right on the doorstep. Hathererthwaite railway from the end of Windermere, cycle hire in Ambleside, Theatre in Keswick and three cinemas in Ambleside. Boat rides, go ape. Hire boats. Lake museum and cafe in Lake Windermere. Ulswater boat tours, Aria falls - Conniston water land speed record museum. M6 makes travelling around the Lake District easy or you can take the scenic route along the coast.
Fellmere is a truly impressive holiday home where every thought has gone into the comfort and enjoyment of the guests who stay there.

Fellmere is a really comfortable, clean, well equipped place to stay. The conservatory is definitely the place to be for the view and light. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that there were no simple instructions on use of the hob and oven or indeed any of the appliances. This would have been very helpful. We had to resort to the manufacturers instruction book which took a long time to sort out. It is also worth saying that the hill down to Ambleside village is very steep so we had to go everywhere by car as we felt the narrow lane was not a safe walking route. Having said that, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

This is a peaceful and comfortable cottage. We enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the thoughtful touches provided for the convenience of guests. One thing we would have liked to know was whether there is a safe walking route into Ambleside. We were not willing to walk down the road, as the encounters we had in the car on that route were scary enough.

Enjoyed our stay at Fellmere. Lovely quiet spot. Only quibble, the showers require sorting out. Both showers started warm and went cold. We would certainly stay again if the showers were working efficiently.
