Fellmere Cottage in Ambleside is highly praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and spacious, well-equipped interiors. Guests particularly enjoy the conservatory overlooking Lake Windermere and the easy access to local walks. The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, making it ideal for families and those seeking a relaxing retreat. While some mention minor maintenance issues and the steep walk into town, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests keen to return and recommend the property to others.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, though a few noted areas such as dusty lights and vents, and some furnishings feeling a little tired. Overall, cleanliness is generally well regarded.
The location is frequently highlighted as a major strength, offering beautiful views, tranquillity, and proximity to Ambleside and local walks. The steep hill is mentioned as a challenge for some, but most guests found the setting exceptional.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, warm, and spacious, with cosy bedrooms and a relaxing conservatory. The peaceful atmosphere and homely feel are much appreciated.
The cottage is well equipped for self-catering and family stays, but several guests mention issues with showers, the boiler, and some kitchen appliances. Minor maintenance and clearer instructions would enhance the experience.
Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a well-equipped kitchen and entertainment options. However, some noted the absence of a welcome pack or personal touches. Please note that gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed.

We are thrilled to offer this idyllically located, lavishly furnished and generously proportioned property for four people. Situated just outside Ambleside with breathtaking views of Lake Windermere and surrounding mountains and yet within walking distance of the village. The house (all except the Amdega conservatory) dates back to 1840 and is full of character and is one of three properties converted from a previous Country House Hotel, but has been redesigned for the 21st century and much use has been made of Laura Ashley fabrics and furnishings.
The semi-detached house is of an open plan design consisting of a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living room, with a fantastic conservatory featuring the dining area, and two delightful en-suite bedrooms with wonderful views across the valley towards Wansfell Pike. Immediately outside the house is a lovely patio complete with garden furniture, and benefiting from stunning views. The garden then slopes away from the house down a meandering lawn with mature borders to the ’secret’ garden which is a beautifully sheltered sun trap.
The central location of the house to the Lake District makes it easy to access the many and varied attractions the Lake District offers. Footpaths begin right on the doorstep. Hathererthwaite railway from the end of Windermere, cycle hire in Ambleside, Theatre in Keswick and three cinemas in Ambleside. Boat rides, go ape. Hire boats. Lake museum and cafe in Lake Windermere. Ulswater boat tours, Aria falls - Conniston water land speed record museum. M6 makes travelling around the Lake District easy or you can take the scenic route along the coast.
Fellmere is a truly impressive holiday home where every thought has gone into the comfort and enjoyment of the guests who stay there.

Lovely cottage in a great location let down by a number of points:-The cooker light wasn’t workingThe outside furniture was so old and rusty that when my husband sat on one of the chairs it collapsed underneath himNo outside parasol either Oven very complicated to useNo welcome pack at all provided, not even a pint of milk in the fridge! No Wi-Fi instructions we had to ring up to obtain theseOverall cleanliness not great the lights in the bedrooms covered in dust as were the bathroom vents, window sills not clean, No tongs in the kitchenNo fans provided despite the heatI think this property just lacks the personal touch you get when you rent direct from the owner and not from an agency or holiday company.

Comfortable home. Generous living space. Great view from the conservatory and gardens. Birds and baby rabbits and occasionally sheep in the garden! Surrounded by nature. Challenging hikes from the front door.
