High Fellside is a well-equipped and comfortable cottage in Ambleside, praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and proximity to excellent walks and local amenities. Guests appreciate the quiet location, wildlife sightings, and the convenience of walking into town. While the property is generally cosy and homely, some guests noted issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and the rear bedrooms being darker and cooler. The cottage is ideal for those with reasonable fitness due to its hillside position. Overall, it offers a memorable stay with beautiful scenery and good facilities.
Most guests found the property clean and tidy, but several mentioned issues such as greasy kitchen appliances, dusty areas, and unclean sheets. These concerns were not universal but were noted by enough reviewers to impact the overall impression.
The location is highly praised for its spectacular views, peacefulness, and easy access to Ambleside and local walks. The hillside position may be challenging for those with mobility issues, but most guests found the walk manageable and rewarding.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable and cosy, especially the living areas and the downstairs bedroom. Some noted that the rear bedrooms were dark and cooler, and the lounge/dining area could be a squeeze for larger groups.
The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen appliances, washer-dryer, and other essentials. However, some guests experienced issues with the tumble dryer, lighting in bedrooms, and outdated crockery. Maintenance concerns such as a broken bath panel and lack of a DVD player were also mentioned.
Several guests noted the absence of welcome items such as milk, tea, coffee, soap, and wood for the fire. While some appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, the lack of basic essentials was a common point of feedback. Please note that gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed.

Lovely house, in a beautiful location. The washing machine worked, but the tumble dryer didn’t work at all, the house itself self was lovely, but the cleanliness was lacking, the sheets were not clean, behind the furniture was not clean, very dusty, and the shower room had not been cleaned properly.Having said that, on the whole a very lovely property and only a 7 minute walk into Ambleside.

Beautifully located with a spectacular view. Tight car parking for 2 cars and the house is lovely at the front but a bit cold and dark for the two rear bedrooms. Excellent equipment and facilities. The front room could do with a blind due to evening sun and the information package hasn’t been updated recently. A few recommendations about nearby eating places would have been welcome. That said, we had a very comfortable visit which was much enjoyed.
