High Fellside is situated high above the village of Ambleside, on the side of Wansfell Pike. The house enjoys panoramic views of Loughrigg, Fairfield Horseshoe and surrounding fells. A strategically placed bench perched at the top of the garden offers an even greater view across Ambleside and the stunning backdrop. Ambleside is stocked with a good selection of bars, restaurants and independent retailers, as well as plenty of seasonal attractions to suit all ages and is easily reached via a short walk down the hill. Set adjacent to Blue Hill Wood, High Fellside offers keen nature lovers the chance to see owls, bats, deer and hear the odd woodpecker.
A neutral colour scheme has been used at High Fellside to create a contemporary style. The spacious, well equipped living/dining room is a delightful room with a picture window from where you can absorb the breath-taking outlook towards Loughrigg and beyond, which is stunning whatever the weather is doing; whilst a wood burner, surrounded by comfy leather sofas, provides a focal point and a cosy, homely feel in the cooler months.
High Fellside has an enclosed, private patio area which enjoys a sunny aspect and stunning views of the fells. From here you can also hear the nearby beck as the water cascades down the fell; an ideal place for al fresco dining and barbecues. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Excellent location. Wonderful views from upstairs front windows. Extremely cosy and well equipped for our family of 5 adults. House was very clean and felt homely.It's definitely somewhere I would stay again.The back bedrooms are very dark even in the day due to the fact they are against a hill so no view. They were a little musty when we stayed in October but not sure this would be an issue in summer. Can easily walk in to town if you are fit. Not an easy walk if you are not used to exercise. Ambleside is great.

We arrived at the house to find a few disappointments. The upstairs bedrooms were very dark, due to trees that were outside of the window, consequently, they need much better lighting in the rooms. Also in the bedroom with a double bed, there is a gap in the opening window letting a cold draught in to an already cold, dark bedroom. There was no DVD player (as advertised), so we contacted the local Cottages.Com office about this, and they asked us to leave the key in the key safe during the next 2 days (as we would be out) for someone to go and sort it, and they also said that somebody would ring us about it, but we heard absolutely nothing for the whole week that we were there. We, as a family, like to do quizzes in the evenings, so we took DVD's with us to play on the DVD player. This was a very big disappointment, especially as we had no contact back regarding this. The cutlery and crockery are obviously well used and they need replacing. On the positive, the downstairs bedroom and en-suite were very good, and the en-suite looked as though it had been updated.
