Enjoy being close to all the village amenities with the added bonus of having a peaceful large garden to the rear of the property with views across open fields. Just a short walk will take you to the shore of Ullswater where there are all year round regular steamers travelling the sinuous length of the lake, calling at Howton on the way south to Glenridding. Water sports, cycling and walking are all popular activities and whichever you choose you’ll be amazed by the spectacular scenery which Wordsworth called ‘the happiest combination of beauty and grandeur’. South of the lake you can drive over the scenic Kirkstone Pass which takes you down into the popular village of Ambleside and on to Windermere. The traditional market town of Penrith with a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants is 6 miles. Shops and pubs 30 yards.

We have just got home from a week at Holly house.. what a place! We came with 2 families and it was ideal. Each bedroom is en-suite so it means you all have your own space.. almost like being jn a guest house. The oven was great and the utility room My favourite lol! The house is right in pooley bridge so really handy for everything and plenty of parking. We had an arranged food delivery on arrival but we were delayed - the owner kindly met the delivery for us. I would love to come back I just wish we could bring our little dog

Holly House is delightful! The plentiful parking and huge garden which our grandchildren played in for hours every day were a real bonus, and being able to sit out on the lovely terrace watching them was just great. The house itself is spacious and very comfortable, very tastefully decorated with everything you could need. Everything in the village is just a few steps away, yet the house is peaceful and quiet.As well as the various pubs etc, we strongly recommend the Hellfire Pizza van just the other side of the garden wall - fabulous pizzas, and also the Ullswater Chippy (about 10 mins drive past the ferry and up to Ullswater Holiday Park at Watermillock). The cinema at Rheged is a useful option for rainy days (about 10 mins away). The cafe in the Verey bookshop was great, as was the gelato from the Village Store.We had a lovely week at Holly House and look forward to returning :)

Holly house was perfect. Great location and the house itself was wonderful. Clean, tidy with everything in it that you would need. 5 lovely bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. Dining room was the best, table big enough for the 10 guests with ample space. Situation in the centre of the village with plenty car parking. Would definitely book again.
