Guests have praised 26 Dukes Meadow for its spaciousness, comfortable furnishings, and large, wildlife-rich garden. The lodge's quiet, rural location is appreciated for relaxation and its proximity to local attractions. The well-equipped kitchen and cleanliness are frequently mentioned, contributing to a pleasant stay.
The majority of guests found the lodge to be spotless and very well maintained, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, there was a single mention of the lodge being very dirty, which suggests an isolated incident rather than a common issue.
The lodge's rural setting in Cumbria is generally seen as peaceful and ideal for wildlife observation, though some guests felt it was a bit too far from certain walks and attractions. The location is quiet and offers a good balance between seclusion and access to nearby towns.
Guests consistently report that the beds are very comfortable and the living space is cosy, with a powerful shower and a warm log fire. The spaciousness of the lodge adds to the overall comfort level.
The lodge is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests appreciated the enclosed garden. Some minor maintenance issues were mentioned, such as non-working lights and a lack of bathroom extractor fan, but these do not seem to detract significantly from the overall experience.
While many reviews highlight the lodge's well-stocked amenities and the presence of dog towels, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Everything we could possibly need was thought of - and even extra helpful things for our rescue greyhound too. The huge windows in the main living area made wildlife spotting so enjoyable. I was able to do lots of wildlife photography just through the windows as there was so much to see! So many birds but also red squirrels and even rabbits, which I wasnât expecting to see in winter. The garden area was great for our greyhound. At first, we took him out on his lead just to be extra careful, but by the end of the week, we were confidently letting him off lead and he was so happy running around. In terms of inside the lodge, the beds were so comfortable and I found it easy to get to sleep. The lodge was decorated wonderfully with nice animal themed artwork. The log burner was also a nice touch and helped warm the living area up quickly, and also made it extra cosy. It really was just so homely and comfortable! Additionally, the area is so remote and peaceful, and with it being in the middle of nowhere, on a clear night you can see hundreds and thousands of stars! And itâs not far away from some nice locations to visit either, so we had a good balance between visiting busier locations and coming back to a quiet peaceful lodge. Weâd absolutely love to come back and will hopefully book again in the near future!
