Situated within Crake Valley Holiday Park, it is set back from the lake with treetop views of the Coniston Mountains from the decked sitting-out area, making it perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Parking is also available, with parking being on an incline and the gravel path to the front door is quite steep at first. Explore the many quirky little villages that the area has to offer, or venture out and explore Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere, which are within easy reach. Further afield on the west coast are many other towns and villages that are well worth exploring, as well as Wast Water and then over the Hardknott Pass back to Coniston. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Ransome Lodge is a very quiet lovely place to holiday. I had a couple of issue’s in that the photo does not convey just how steep it actually is to get to the front door. I have mobility problems and I signed it off as being accessible based on the photo. However, it is a huge gradient. I ended up not being able to go out much because I couldn’t get back up the hill so attention must be paid for future holidaymakers. The other thing is that I couldn’t get up onto the bed. I am short and the beds are very high. I ended up sleeping on the sofa for the week so again, if you’re short or have a small inside leg, pay attention! The shower head came off the wall in the double bedroom en-suite and we left a note informing the owner. Despite the above, we did have a lovely time. It was very peaceful and had most of the thing’s to keep us comfortable.

The Lodge was very clean & comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Quiet location very cozy with great quality bed . We had a lovely break & visited lovely places & great walks .
