Tucked away within easy reach of Norfolk Broads and coast, it is hidden from view and nestled beside Sutton Windmill, and one of the tallest still standing.
The location benefits from sandy beaches and the famous Norfolk Broads on the doorstep. Sea Palling is just 14 minutes’ drive with an excellent sandy beach backed by sand dunes, cafés, pub, and amusements. Excellent walking can be enjoyed from the doorstep with the Weavers Way running through the town of Stalham and providing great opportunities to explore on foot or by cycle.
Sutton Staithe is your gateway to the Norfolk Broads connecting onto the River Ant. Daily boat hire and river trips available to explore the miles of waterways. Excellent river fishing and local lake fishing is also available (seasonal, and licence required) and The Norfolk Broads Museum (seasonal opening). The Broads and three pubs are all within a mile. The village centre of Stalham (2½ miles) has cafés, bakery, supermarket, chemist, petrol station, beautician, bank and eateries. Wroxham, known as the Capital of the Broads, (9½ miles) with shops, supermarket, cafés and restaurants.
During the months of November and January parts of Horsey beach are protected whilst the grey seal colony give birth, a great opportunity to visit and see nature up close. For great family fun days visit Bewilderwood, a tree top adventure in Horning, Roarr Dinosaur Adventure at Lenwade, indoor soft play, slides, outdoor adventure and splash park and Wroxham Barns with a small petting farm and play park.
The historic city of Norwich (15 miles) is worth a visit, having two excellent indoor shopping malls, market square, cafés, restaurants, pubs, cathedral, theatre, and castle museum. The livelier seaside resort of Great Yarmouth (16 miles) has amusements, fun fair, pier, shops and restaurants. The cottage was extremely comfortable. We had a lovely welcome, with quick guided tour. The 'goodies' basket was enjoyed by us and our 2 dogs.Both bathrooms had very good power showers. The kitchen was well equipped.It was quite wet / muddy whilst we were there - the floor was easy to wipe over, but I was very conscious our dogs malt - no vacuum to get those fur balls up ! Outside tap in the garden to wash the sand/mud off.The beaches nearby were open for dogs ( be aware of seal season) our boys loved the blow out.Plenty of places to eat out that were also dog friendly.Lovely break - definitely recommend 😊

Just the bolthole I needed for a late winter mini break. The holiday key was warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. I didn’t do much exploring of the local area as the weather wasn’t great but the beach at Sea Palling was lovely and dog friendly ( during winter)There was a friendly welcome when I arrived and a lovely basket of goodies for me and pooch, which was much appreciated. The cottage is very dog friendly with dog towels supplied and a small well fenced garden . All in all it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. I would definitely visit again to explore the area and use Millers Rest as a base
