The Maltings has the bonus of two idyllic jetty cottages looking directly over the bay - ideal for dining, a retreat or to watch the many unusual birds that visit Budle Bay which can also be used as a secure storage for cycles/equipment. Many fabulous walks, cycle routes in the area. Alnwick Castle, gardens within 30-minute drive. Golf, riding, sea fishing, watersports nearby. Access to A1 to explore further afield - Berwick and Metro Centre an hour’s drive. Shops 1½ miles.

Nice roomy apartment, plenty of hot water, firm mattresses, central heating worked well as did heated towel rails (it was a cold week) and cooker etc good. Plenty of parking but a little confusing as we expected to have a marked parking space but it was basically a free for all. You need a car as this place is in a lovely position overlooking the sea, with Lindisfarne in the far distance, but it is in the middle of nowhere. Only gripes were very poor lighting, although two bulbs were faulty but I doubt they would have made much of a difference in the lounge/kitchen area and the Wifi was atrocious, although necessary work on it was scheduled for the week after we left. Would we go back - yes we would!

Had a terrific short break at The Maltings. Comfortable, clean, well equipped, quiet and wonderfully accessible. We particularly enjoyed our access to the Jetty Cottage and just sitting watching the birds in the evening. It’s also a great location for walkers with super walks available in every direction.

Fabulous homely apartment in a beautiful converted mill. We holidayed with our 3 children and cockerpoo and all had a great holiday. Close to Banburgh, Seahouses and holy island for things to do, whilst in a great tranquil setting to get away from it all - we’ll definitely be back!
