About this property

If you're yearning for fresh air, big sky views, and a place where you, your family and friends can relax and catch up, Gardener's Cottage is it. Sitting in Netherton close to the national park and the Cheviot Hills, the three-bedroom holiday home is perfect for self-catering holidays in Northumberland in any season. There is space for seven people, with children and well-behaved dogs welcome. Take long walks and bike rides through the countryside or along the coast, visit stately homes and castles, and enjoy long pub lunches or picnics on a sunny day.

Gardener's Cottage is in the pretty village of Netherton, a 10-minute stroll from the friendly Star Inn pub and just over the border from the Northumberland National Park. It sits quietly between the beautiful Cheviot Hills, where the River Coquet starts its 40-mile journey to the North Sea at Amble. The three-bedroom holiday cottage sleeps six people with a layout that suits families, extended families and friends for a self-catering stay. It's next door to a similar property, The Hideaway, which sleeps ten people in four rooms, and you can book the two together to accommodate up to 17 people plus infants and up to three dogs in each cottage.

Netherton is an excellent choice for anyone who craves peace, quiet, and beautiful views. You can walk for miles through the countryside or along the coast, barely seeing a soul. The stunning views don't stop at sunset. The Northumberland National Park is a Dark Sky Reserve, and you can expect incredible displays at night as well. Cycle along the Pennine Cycleway to Burnfoot or Alwinton, or challenge yourself on the off-road trails at Kielder Water, which also has bike hire. Those who prefer a bigger saddle can go horse riding around the foothills of the Cheviots or along the beach at Holy Island. There is a fantastic choice of golf courses, fishing on the River Coquet, and the opportunity for clay pigeon shooting.

Local attractions include castles at Alnwick, Bamburgh, Dunstable and Edlingham. Cragside House and Gardens are as impressive as a century ago when the innovative Lord and Lady Armstrong used hydroelectricity to power lights and heating. There are beaches for surfing, rivers and lakes for wild swimming and fishing, and shops and markets to browse. The owner can help make your holiday extra special by booking unique experiences like a flight in a vintage aircraft or a pampering beauty treatment in the comfort of your holiday cottage.

You can book a holiday at Gardener's Cottage at any time. Come for a long weekend if you only have a few days, or treat yourself to a week-long stay in the luxurious home-away-from-home.

Accommodation Comprises:

Gardener's Cottage is a new build in a traditional style with accommodation over two levels. It is finished and furnished to a high standard to ensure your stay is relaxed and comfortable from the moment you arrive until you regretfully depart with a promise that you'll return.

Downstairs:

  • There is plenty of space to relax and socialise in the open-plan living area. There's a Danish log burner in the fireplace, leather sofas, and an oak dining table and chairs.
  • Integrated appliances and stylish colours make the kitchen as elegant as it is efficient. It has everything you'll need to cook and serve meals, and a dishwasher and a washing machine for your convenience. Step outside the kitchen door into the enclosed garden.
  • Keep coats and shoes neatly tucked away in a large storage cupboard in the hallway.
  • A downstairs bedroom suite is handy for two families on holiday together, or grandparents who appreciate a room away from early-rising grandchildren. It has a double bed, oak furniture, and a shower room with a walk-in shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Upstairs:

  • A double bedroom has a king-sized zip and link beds that can be separated into two singles if preferred. There is also room for an additional single bed which can be requested when booking. Oak furniture, a box sprung mattress, Egyptian cotton bed linen, and views of meadows and a stream make it a room in which you can sleep soundly.
  • The third bedroom is a twin with two single beds and ample storage. Keep the blinds open and drift off to the view of stars, or close the blackout blinds and sleep soundly without the sun waking you.
  • Freshen up in the shower room with a shower, WC and basin.
  • Outside: Gardener's Cottage has a secure south-facing garden with a terrace, table and chairs. There is parking for two cars next to the house.
