This property is situated in an idyllic location with super views. However, the description is rather misleading. Rather than walks that are not open to the public right outside of the garden gate there is no mention of the number of public rights of way that actually are. Guests are requested to keep their dogs on a lead at all times which we did. However, this cannot be enforced against the public using the public rights of way. Whilst we never encountered a problem this information should be published. The land directly outside of the property is marshland grazing land for cattle who roam free which is great to see but I personally have a problem with potential attacks from cattle whilst with a dog and in addition to this dodging the cow pats did not make for a pleasant walk. We also had a unexpected visit in our supposedly private garden from I believe the hosts dog, luckily our dogs were in the van.We had planned to walk to the local pub for something to eat given that it's stated it's only a 15/20 minute walk. What is also not disclosed is the walk is across marshland occupied by cattle, covered in cowpats and watering holes making it wholly unsuitable for walking especially now the nights are drawing in. The property was clean but needs updating, the towels were like sandpaper, the bathroom needs regrouting or a deep clean due to mould and the three seater sofa in the living room desperately needs to be replaced. We enjoyed our stay as it was a base, we got taxis to places we wanted to eat at but would not stay again. Would highly recommend the Crown and Thistle and the Near Boot for places to eat. Such a shame as this read like the perfect place to stay but unfortunately it was a let down.

This is an absolutely magical location in an idyllic pastoral estate. The owner was very kind d with us and really had those little extras in the cottage that made a big difference for us. I enjoyed many beautiful nature walks, watching the wildlife, enjoying the horses in the paddock next to our cottage, stunning sunrises and sunsets over the waters, etc. It was secluded and quiet, yet just minutes from the quaint village. Perfection!

Beautiful cottage - Solway Marsh View, a two night stay with three cadets and a GSD! Ample space for us all, bedrooms were comfortable, the cottage was warm and welcoming, the kitchen was well equipped and the lounge/dining area was spacious and comfortable.Lovely views from the cottage across the Marsh and so many different birds in the trees and visiting the garden. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed her time there as well! A nice sized well enclosed garden and lovely long walks straight from the door. The property owners were in the adjoining house, they were very accommodating and helpful, great communication throughout the booking and beyond. Thank you Penelope for a lovely relaxing weekend! We will be back some time soon :)
